Shampoo for really greasy roots.

I am looking for a shampoo for really greasy roots for my 15yo DD. She washes her hair most days, at the very least every other day, and yet her hair always looks flat and greasy. She has very fine hair, but lots of it, with quite a wave.

Cantu cleansing shampoo is good. It sounds like she's got potentially curly hair so will need a gentle type of shampoo initially to clean it.

Toni and Guy mens clarifying shampoo is amazing for this. Dry her hair completely afterwards without moving it around too much and then spray the roots with a decent quality dry shampoo so as soon as the grease comes there's something to soak it up.

From the supermarket I find Aussie is good for mine. I have also been using schwarzkopf shampoos from my hairdresser which are good but the schearzkopf conditioner too heavy for everyday. I can use the aussie conditioner daily.

I like Kristen Ess from boots at the moment.

I have very fine greasy roots and dry on ends.

Need a sulphate and silicone feee shampoo. Yet to find the holy grail.

My hair is limp within 18 hours so has to be washed in the morning. If I wash it at night it's greasy by 4pm.

I find the Kristen Ess mousse helps with the greasyness

If you have the means, professional shampoo - L'Oréal professional or Redken clarifying, then supermarket conditioner - only applied to mid-length and ends.
Key thing is to not touch the hair regularly. Dry shampoo for whenever needed and find some up-styles that suit her for Day 2.
Good luck x

See if she can wash her hair less. The more she washes out the grease the more it will produce. My teenager had a greasy hair problem and went through the pain of only washing it to or three times a week. - it stopped being so greasy very quickly.

The elvive clay shampoo makes my hair feel greasier more quickly, it feels to me as though it leaves a deposit in the hair which weighs it down a bit. However much I rinse it always feels that way. Smells nice though.

My best results have been from focusing on technique rather than product - eg: massaging shampoo in with a silicone scalp massager (a few pounds on amazon) and using a scalp scrub every so often, Boots etc sell a few these days now they are more popular.

Shampoo wise my mantra is to stick to something 'clear'. Anything pearlescent or opaque usually isn't as clarifying I find. I tend to use the faith in nature shampoo's as I've had the best results with them, I use the rose one currently and like it.

Double shampooing also helps if the hair feels particularly greasy, conditioner only if needed and on the ends only, and certainly rinsing for twice as long as you think you need to and making sure to rinse properly around the hairline.

Boring but does make a difference, for me.

I don't use it but she could try putting dry shampoo in before bed. The trick is to use the dry shampoo before the hair gets greasy rather than when it is.

See if she can wash her hair less.

Bingo we have a winner!

Greasy hair is caused by hormones (eg a thyroid that tends towards overactive). Some bait just needs daily washing.
