Equipment to do nails at home.

I can no longer afford to have my nails done regularly. I've already reduced my hair dresser visits too.
I'd like to do my nails at home instead, can anyone give me any recommendations of equipment that will save me money in the long run?? Thanks

What do you mean by nails. Gels, acrylic, regular nail polish?

are you trained to do this?

I do gel nails with the mylee lamp and polishes and that works really well. I redo them every 2 weeks or so unless I’m giving my nails a break and I have saved a fortune by buying the lamp and doing it myself. They probably don’t last quite as long as something like Shellac but I do generally get two weeks out of them.

I have a gel lamp but find it a bit fiddly! If you have nice nails you can just use polish but a good base is key so if you look after them well you’ll get good results even if you do at home. It won’t last as long though but you’ll save a lot! X

Be really careful with home sets. I ended up with a severe allergy to methyl acrylate. The home lamps don't cure as gard or as fast and it gets I through your skin and nails before it's set, eventually triggering an allergy. I lost all my nails and had fingers and hands blistering and swollen. Plus, I now can't have normal dental treatment because methyl acrylate is in the fillings etc. I would suggest just using normal polishes at home...

The lamp must match the polish brand and the polish must never get on the skin or you can get allergies.

Dry doesn’t mean cured and uncured acrylic is highly allergenic as @MyBottomDecides found out. Acrylic is also common in bone repairs.

I do my own gel nails at home. If you find a brand which you're not sensitive to and stick with that, you should be ok. If you have a sensitivity, you can get a reaction from going to a salon, so not sure how that's relevant. They use the same products.
