In the last year I’ve had small patches of dryness on my scalp (mainly around hairline/ an inch or 2 back from hairline) that seem to be slowly spreading a bit. Read about the magical ginger shampoo a few months ago and it worked for me! But since then it seems to have stopped working as well plus my hair now gets really oily quickly. Now having to wash hair every other day rather than every 5ish days (I know this sounds gross but my hair genuinely takes ages to get dirty. Or it did).

i don’t think it’s dandruff as such, it seems to be ‘dry scalp’ (didn’t realise there was a difference until recently). I have also tried ketoconazole shampoo and the usuals (head and shoulders/ vosene etc).

has anyone used that scalp treatment from the ordinary and found it to be good?

thanks

Yes you can buy Sebco on amazon!

Yes, straight onto the scaly parts of my scalp and leave overnight. It stinks (coal tar) but it helps. I was told to use sebco only for 6 weeks before before reintroducing steroids (had a consultation with a dermatologist).

After years of a dry scalp I used a clarifying shampoo and then started shampooing less and using oils more. I no longer have a dry scalp

What do you mean by using oils?

I've found a shampoo brush really helps when shampoos stop working.

I pondered buying one of those in the queue at the chemist but weirdly I feel like the more I vigorously scrub at the patches the worse they get?! But then that’s probably just the effect of the shampoo waning

If it is dry scalp then brands like Head & Shoulders and Body Shop Ginger probably aren't the best option. They work on removing oil build up to get rid of dandruff. I use Hairetic shampoo to get rid of the dandruff and then a regular (non SLS) shampoo in the between times. something without silicon always helps me.
