How much would you pay for a bikini/swimming costume?

I am shopping for new swimming costumes and bikinis because I am going away for a few days next week but I noticed they are all really expensive. How much would you pay for a bikini or swimming costume?

The best quality swimwear I have found that suits my body is Boden. A swimsuit (for the gym) or a bikini (for holidays) is usually about £80. I buy them in the sales though, usually with about 40% off.

Do you recommend any of their swimsuits in particular?

I have two in this style, plus a Tankini in the same style. The fit beautifully and keep ‘the girls’ in place due to the strap style.

Thanks AnnieSnap

I generally buy triangle bikinis and always in sales. I have dozens of them. Billabong mainly, but also Firetrap, SeaSalt, Roxy, O’Neill etc. £15 tops

EveSix · 23/07/2022 23:20

No need to spend so much. I've bought really reasonably priced high-end swimwear on eBay for years, some 'worn once' or still with tags and gusset protector; stuff that's been bought for a holiday and then never worn again.
I'm not squeamish about pre-loved and really keen on not buying any newly manufactured stuff any more.

Fatballs · 23/07/2022 23:24

I buy from Ebay too, but only new. I had a bad experience with “worn once”.

Worn once and never washed.

For a really really flattering set, I would pay hundreds!

Sadly, I've never found anything that does much for my body.

Probably should consider paying the hundreds on the gym instead....

I would always get an out of season new Freya bikini from eBay for about £35. This year I can't find any I like so have gone for a full price Fantasie, think it was about £60.
I like a bra sized top and always size up in the pants for comfort.

EmmaStone · 24/07/2022 17:50

I can't bring myself to pay more than about £50 - I guess it depends what you're doing, but we can be quite active on holidays, wearing swimmers canoeing and sitting on rocks, and I find whatever the price, they get a bit bobbly on the bum from that.

Years of late I've been doing M&S. I'm quite flat chested, but have always had a bit of a belly (even when a 7 stone 16 YO), which I can't carry off with no boobs to counter it. So full suits it is for me, with tummy control.

Bravissimo top, cheap on eBay. Decathlon mens shorts bottoms. Oh this is style and beauty...

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 24/07/2022 17:54

Just bought my swimming costume a few weeks ago from Pour Moi for the boobage, was £42 I'm sure, love it!!

DiscoBadgers · 24/07/2022 17:58

I like Batoko swimsuits - you can actually properly swim in them without straps sliding off, or them riding up your bum. They do only have mad toddler patterns though so it’s not a subtle, chic look!

Have a look at Next online sale

MistyRock · 24/07/2022 18:08

I tend to spend alot, but it really depends on your size. I'm a 34FF to G so a non supportive Primark £2 top wouldn't work, but if I was a firm 34B then I'm sure I'd look great.

dementedpixie · 24/07/2022 18:15

Belle lingerie sells brands at reduced prices. I'm sure my Elomi bikini bottoms were under £10 each and the bra sized bikini top was about £25 I think

TheOGCCL · 24/07/2022 19:37

£60 approx, normally after hunting around the Internet and bra sized

bigchanges1 · 24/07/2022 21:36

@AnnieSnap I have just got the Corsica bikini top in black and it is so flattering & supportive. I got a pair of classic bikini bottoms, but think I should have got a size smaller maybe as not as not sitting quite right. With discounts they were £40.50 delivered.

TitInATrance · 24/07/2022 21:38

Around £40 from the local pool, mostly zoggs.
I bought one from Lands End in the winter sale which is holding up well (swim in chlorinated water, often).

grey12 · 24/07/2022 21:41

Depends on how busty you are 🤷🏻‍♀️ busty gals need to pay eye watering prices for bras/bikinis. Smaller boobs get away with £5 stuff. One of my friends had a basket full of beautiful bikinis 🥺 so jealous!! My bikini was 10x the price of hers......

thenightsky · 24/07/2022 21:41

I buy in the Bravissimo sale. Around £35 for a top. Stick to a base colour of black/white/navy stripes, zigzags, etc. Buy the bottoms in plain black/white/navy off Asos/Shein etc.

AnnieSnap · 24/07/2022 21:42

@bigchanges1 👍
