Non-see through school blouses

DD needs white blouses next year for school. Can anyone recommend the ones that are least see-through please? Bonus points for non-iron!

Is she wearing a nude/skin coloured bra? White shows through white much worse than nude does. I've never had an issue with tesco shirts

SausageinaBun · 22/07/2022 19:59

Does that work of nude colour is nothing like your skin tone? She's a very pale kid, so nude stuff is nothing like her skin tone.

Nude or pink is better than white for showing through white clothes.

All school shirts seen to be thin and see through nowadays. I ended up buying dd a variety of pink, nude, red bras but she still wears her zip up hoodie pretty much all the time as she feels uncomfortable.

We did find ones we kinda liked in Sainsbury's but they stop at age 12?!

Me and my friends wore Ben Sherman shirts that were brilliant, they don't seem to be available anymore.

MuffinMcLayLikeABundleOfHay · 22/07/2022 20:36

My dd wears 'Banner' school shirts as they are the best we have found.

'Nude' bras or crop tops are definitely the best for not being seen. My dd is black so they don't blend with her skin but you can't see her bra through her shirt.

dementedpixie · 22/07/2022 20:38

Sainsbury's has a 3-12y range and a 3-16y range

John Lewis 100% cotton. Not see-through and you can just about get away with not ironing if you tumble dry and hang up.

TheCanyon · 22/07/2022 20:53

@dementedpixie have you seen their 13+ offerings? Two choices, Long sleeve or short sleeved completely shapeless with weirdly baggy arms?

dementedpixie · 22/07/2022 20:55

No I haven't. As I said we just used the Tesco short sleeved shirts for dd and ds

EvelynBeatrice · 23/07/2022 09:35

Yes. Skin coloured bra plus if she'll go for it, skin coloured camisole/vest/chemise. Sainsbury do three pack pure cotton vest / camisoles in skin, white, black colour ways- the black and white are useful under other stuff. They do 6s and 8s in the ladies ones. At other end cost scale I treated my daughter to a couple of silk ones when on holiday which she loved.

SheWoreYellow · 23/07/2022 09:36

Yes, nude is fine on the most peely-wally skin.

Perple · 23/07/2022 09:38

I have ALWAYS thought how weird and frankly creepy it is that white shirts are almost always see through. Including school shirts.

although now I think of it - mens office white shirts don’t tend to be see through do they?

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 23/07/2022 15:44

I hate it that girls school shirts don't have darts - school shirts are not designed for boobs, which surprise surprise girls have! The ill-fitting shirts on offer don't help self conscious teens. It would be much better if they did school shirts in sizes, 8, 10, 12, etc rather than by age, which means nothing as girls grow at different rates.

balalake · 23/07/2022 18:05

@Perple you are right, though the men's shirts you refer to are expensive compared with what most people would pay for school shirts (for a year's wearing maybe two at most).
