Teeth whitening trays, anyone used them?.

I've had the impressions done at the dentist, and have an appointment to get them and the gel. However, I'm having reservations now as people have told me that it increases tooth sensitivity? Has anyone had this experience? A colleague told me that she experienced tooth pain.

They are improved - that's good.
Anyway, I've already paid so it's the dentist's system I'm using.

The legal limit for hydrogen peroxide is 6% and this is much better than the carbamide peroxide in higher percentages (16%) that you leave in overnight. In my experience (I’ve used both) the carbamide peroxide was awful for my teeth in terms of increasing sensitivity. If you bite your nails / grind your teeth that can increase sensitivity, so try not to! I’m a nail biting addict! Good luck!

I use them
After using them brush sensodyne on your teeth and put the trays back in for a few hours

I’ve paid £300 for tooth whitening from my dentist. Not very good at all.
Two of my teeth are still yellow and the rest aren’t much whiter. I feel ripped off to be honest.

I had overnight whitening trays after Invisalign treatment - there were 2 strengths of the syringes and the higher concentration did make me a bit more sensitive. Still got a really good result with the low concentration, and think they must be more gentle anyway given they stay in overnight!

I’ve used trays a few times over the years but never with lasting results - it just made them look slightly whiter for a couple of weeks then back to normal. My dentist said to avoid coffee, tea and curry as they stain but I decided life was too short to cut out three of my greatest pleasures! I also found they made my teeth extremely sensitive, despite using Sensodyne (my hygienist said the same).

I’ve done it and after a week it was so painful! Kept me awake at night and I had to take painkillers, despite smothering my teeth with sensitive toothpaste.

I tried again 9 months later and my front bottom teeth are too sensitive now so I don’t think I’ll bother again.

DillDanding · 01/08/2022 21:28

I had Enlighten whitening done. The dentist makes the trays and then you get 2 weeks' worth of gels to wear overnight. There's a special toothpaste and also swabs you can use to desensitise (I didn't bother with these). Then you go back to the dentist for an in-chair session with a stronger gel.

I was thrilled with the results. My teeth went from beige to a bright and natural looking white.

They have stayed looking great although I now buy a 35% peroxide online and use it once for 30 minutes, once a year. This is more out of vanity and paranoia than anything else.

For anyone looking at buying the Cleopatras charcoal stuff, I'd advise you to look very carefully at the before/after photos on the website, then the PP's photos above. They all seem to be the same person.

I seem to recall other people on another thread ordered and had trouble with this miracle product not turning up...
