Returning cosmetics that don't do what they advertise

What are the chances of me being able to return something to Boots?

I bought one of those lippy's that say they will increase the size of your lips.

it was "Soap & Glory" Sexy Mother Pucker
and it makes my lips tingle in a horrible way that there is no way I could use it.
I wouldn't mind, though, if it actually made my lips bigger!

Anyway, I still have the receipt and packaging, as only bought it yesterday, will boots refund me?

Dropdeadfred · 18/01/2008 08:50

I have this (I was boought the triple box for Christmas) and I kind of like the lip tingle, but I didn't notice any plumping really either

God, I would have to return every beauty product I own then ...
I should have longer lashes, fuller lips, and flawless wrinkle free face ...

I would return the product on account of the tingling lips ... and they should take it back really ...

Flier · 18/01/2008 09:04

ok, i'll give it a go

I think their policy is not to exchange/refund anything that's open. however if you say it's caused an allergy tehn they may refund you, but possibly onto a Boots card instead of cash

Funny thing is I LOVE the Mother Pucker lipgloss... I am not sure I would necc. want my lips to suddenly plump up anyway - and I really like the slight tingling and it is quite a "lasting" lipgloss compared to some...

By the way - it's the tingling thing that is the ingredient doing it's job of plumping up!

I bought something called "lip sting" that was supposed to do the same thing. It was SO ghastly, that I had to rub it off my lips within about 10 seconds of applying it and they hurt for ages afterwards. MPucker stuff completely mild in comparison!

FWIW - I emailed boots once because of a dodgy mascara that was completely dry. I couldn't make it into a boots for weeks, and they credited my advantage card with 500 points. Better than nothing!

If the product literature had stated to expect a tingling sensation, then I wouldn't have minded so much.

I did buy a body scrub and lotion from the same range and it is absolutely gorgeous.

I've got the mother pucker lipgloss and I love it. It smells of chocolate. The tingle is what's supposed to give you that bee sting lip look.

Flier · 18/01/2008 14:18

eeugh, i hated the smell too. Boots took it back no problem.

The tingle is the thing that makes more blood flush to your lips and produce the 'plumping' effect

well, all i said was that i had a terrible tingling effect with it and the assistant said, oh well, if you've had an allergic reaction then we'll def take it back.

There's nothing on the packaging telling you to expect a tingling and I think there should be.
