I need a travel/carry on bag - is Le Pliage the best option?

As the title says I need a decent bag for travelling - so both on the plane and going out during the day (city break but would be handy if it worked as a beach bag too).

I love bags with lots of compartments but think something like a Le Pliage might be better for chucking in a hoody and some flipflops. Are they comfy on your shoulder? I’m not sure if I’d prefer a backpack but don’t want to look too touristy.

Any ideas very welcome, budget up to £100 but less would be fab 😅

They’re very comfortable, they’re my go-to for travelling. As they fold up, I usually take a second one of a smaller size in my suitcase too.

Backpack is the best option. Loads of people carry backpacks these days, it's not a tourist thing, and it will be more comfortable and convenient plus you can have lots of compartments (if you want) but also space for hoody and flipflops. Each to their own and everything, but I've no idea why Le Pilage is so popular. I think they look really old-fashioned.

I have numerous La Pliage bags (from the biggest to the back pack) in lots of colours. I really recommend them for travelling as they are light and easy to store.
I do like this new Re-play tote.

They are very popular for exactly the reason you want. They are lightweight, minimal timeless design and you can find a colour that really appeals to you. The ones with the handles that are the same colour as the bag appeal to me the most but others like the classic Brie. Leather handled ones. I use a massive white one as my pool/beach bag.

I bought one over the weekend - it’s so so comfy and lightweight.

(if you’re going abroad it’ll probably be cheaper there - I picked it up in France for £60)

I love a le pliage :)

I also love my Jennie from Mia Tui which has the pocket on the back to go over suitcase handles. About £55/60 iirc (mine is years old and still as good as new and I use it every time I travel which I do a lot for work)

I love mine. Mind you I also love a canvas oversized tote from primark. Brilliant for everything but the Le Pliage is more elegant looking.

Sounding mostly positive for the Le Pliage - does anyone know if they are OK as a carry on with Ryanair? According to the dimensions on the website they would be slightly too big but I'm thinking as they squash down it wouldn't be a problem.

I love Le Pliage but now use a Gweneth bag from Day Birger Mikkelsen for travelling. They fold down well, are a bit more casual and I like using them for the beach too. Also cheaper.
