To ask if/how often you go to a salon

I have never been in a salon in my whole life but decided to treat myself to a brazilian wax (ouch) and express pedicure before my holidays this year.
I am curious to know how often people get bauty treatments and, if you don’t mind sharing, what your budget is.
I have a limited budget due to DD in full time nursery (London) but realised I “waste” a lot of money in coffees, buying lunches when in the office. I could easily try and save that and spend it for regular waxing or get my nails done etc (or even better, just save it, lol). I just always feel as if I am wasting money getting these things done as I can do it at home and obtain a similar result, although not as good, I’ll admit.
what do you normally do?

I don't think of it as a waste of money personally, as I really enjoy it and feel pampered - it's worth it for that imo.

I get my nails done every three weeks (£30-40, BIAB depending on design), hair every 10 weeks (£120-£200 depending on what I have done) along with eyelash extensions every few weeks (£50 ish), brows every 6 weeks (£30) and various other facials / pedicures / treatments as I need it e.g if there's a wedding or something coming up.

Some people will be absolutely aghast, but it makes me feel good, I can afford it and it supports a local business so win win in my mind.

Don't begrudge yourself treats if you can afford them, budget them in if you can (like you said, less lunches out at the office) and enjoy feeling pampered 😊

@yonce yes absolutely, the mental aspect is also important! I used to be able to spend time doing stuff at home myself like toenails etc but having a toddler makes it harder. I never wax as I don’t like the fact that I need to let my hair grow first and find it limiting but I can see the advantage of doing it before a holiday. Less to worry about :)

I get my eyebrows waxed and tinted and lashes tinted and lifted about every 6-8 weeks in summer which saves wearing eye makeup. I skip the lashes in winter as mascara works almost as well, except for Christmas parties when I'll get them done. It's £60 for the whole thing, £15 just for brows so I feel like I keep costs down by getting them done less frequently in winter.

I never get my nails done as I'm a HCP and can't have them for work, so that saves some cash.

I get my hair cut and coloured every 8 weeks or so - £120 a time, that's my main expense.

Waxing is painful and, as you say, annoying because you need to let the hair grow. Look into getting an IPL for home use if you have the right skin and hair types. It's well worth it in the long run.

I get my hair cut every five weeks at £62, and brows waxed/threaded every four weeks at £15.

I tint lashes/brows myself, do my own nails, and am such a hairy Mary that waxing doesn’t last five minutes so I shave.

I go to the hairdressers 5-6 times a year at a cost of about £65. I experiment myself with hair dye and think it looks just as good.

I get 2-3 pedicures a year if it's a good summer. One so far this summer at £20. I do finger nail manicures at home as I don't wear nail polish on them.

Botox (only) in my 11s 2-3 times a year, currently paying £120 a time.

I have thought about facials but haven't ever been convinced and worry they might upset my sensitive skin.

I'm in London.
