Summer t shirts that are not tents

Teen DD is sweltering in the heat at her retail summer job because she's wearing long sleeved skinny ribs (she also owns vest tops but obv those aren't suitable for work). She assures me she has looked 'everywhere' (i.e. H&M, Primark, TK Maxx, ASOS) and has given up because 'all' the summer tops are either enormous and boxy or cropped/revealing. She's after something fairly plain (no frills or flounces or puffed sleeves) and fitted that sits on or just below her waist, to wear with relaxed/wideleg jeans. Anything I've shown her online has been dismissed as too long/baggy - and of course is probably from entirely the wrong shops, although she hasn't said that. Where should she be looking?

How tall and what size is she OP?

I'm 5ft, size 6-8 and have similar problems finding t-shirts that aren't skintight/ribbed type and aren't tents and aren't too long. Particularly if I want to wear them with higher waisted trousers. And I hate tucking things in, never feels comfy (awful in warm weather) and I'm always re-tucking.

I've found:
Zara - www.zara.com/uk/en/cropped-t-shirt-p04424159.html
I bought a size S and its perfect for higher waisted jeans. Not showing my mid riff at all.

I've also resorted to M&S or Next kids t shirts, size 10-11 or 11-12. They do some plain ones in a range of colours. And at least they're cotton.

New Look also ok but not always cotton.

Uniqlo used to be perfect when they first opened stores in the UK as they were still on Japanese sizing but they have now sized up and most t shirts are far too long for me.

I know your DD will turn her nose up at the mere mention of M&S but they did have some ordinary plain t-shirts which were slightly fitted and stretchy.

I forgot. I got some decent t shirts from Zara

WellWoman · 19/07/2022 09:29

Have you looked at Uniqlo? If they are doing their ribbed t-shirts this year she might like those, and their airism range is close fitting, so i suggest looking at those as well as the normal t-shirts. Their basics are great quality, very good at keeping colour and shape after lots of washes.

Fatface have good basic tshirts that are fitted but not too fitted. You can pick them up on eBay new / nearly new for far less than website price.
