Hairdryer recommendation?

ToooOldForThis · 14/07/2022 10:17

I haven't replaced my cheap old hairdryer for years, and from what I see in the hairdresser and online I think it's very outdated and not doing my hair any favours. I have fine, straight hair prone to static. It's just in a long-ish bob, so it's just a case of blasting it dry then straighteners.
Mine is a big old chunky dryer and i notice that the new ones seem to be almost tube shaped?
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

If you don’t mind spending a bit more, I would suggest the cloud 9 hairdryer. I also have fine straight hair which is prone to static and I find this hairdryer helps control it a bit. I’ve had mine for 4 years now so the extra cost was definitely worth it for me.

Thank you! It is pricey indeed but does get good reviews!

Ghd Helios hairdryer! Very expensive but totally worth it and you hardly have to straighten your hair afterwards

Beachlovingirl · 15/07/2022 09:02

I have the dyson one and love it. I’ve got fine hair that can get those fly aways on top etc and with this I don’t get that, plus I don’t need the nozzle attachment for a smooth finish, and it takes hardly any time to dry hair. It is powerful though and can knot hair if you’re not careful. I haven’t used cloud 9 dryer but have their straighteners so I’m sure that one is also good.

I used a Mark Hill professional hairdryer in a hotel last week and was really impressed with it. I'm considering getting one to replace my Parlux.

I think the Mark Hill is mid range when compared to eg Cloud 9 etc.

Ilovetable · 15/07/2022 18:56

Does anyone know if the the hairdryer is worth it for fine, thin, straight hair that dries quickly with a regular cheaply hairdryer? I’m wondering what the benefits are?

Ilovetable · 15/07/2022 18:58

*that should have said GHD hairdryer!

soberfabulous · 15/07/2022 19:02

The dyson supersonic all day long.

I'm currently on holiday without it and being reminded daily how shit my hair is when I don't use it.

I have a long job and blast it worth the dyson. It dries in about 4 minutes and most times I never need the straighteners. Truly a hair miracle.

WaveyHair · 15/07/2022 19:08

Another vote for the dyson- expensive but worth it.

Parlux Alyon. Best hairdryer I've used by far!

IloveJudgeJudy · 16/07/2022 06:50

Dyson supersonic for me but as a PP said, I'm sure the others mentioned are fine. The Dyson is good for flyaways.

Another parlux vote. Great hairdryer, had it for years and had to stop my DS from borrowing it for university.

ToooOldForThis · 16/07/2022 11:50

Ooh thank you all! So is the general consensus that it IS worth spending the money?

Was really disappointed with my zparlix hairdryer. Only lasted 3 years! Have a GHD one now and love it.

PawPrintsInMyPansies · 16/07/2022 12:31

Parlux!

Did you get one in the end? If so how noisy is it?

I'm looking for a quiet hairdryer but refuse to buy a Dyson (because 1, the price and 2, the politics). Mid range would be ideal.

Michael Douglas the hairdresser (MD London) has designed a new hair dryer, it looks very good, light, good balance, large nozzle for smoothness, fast and quiet - he demos it on instagram.

Parlux all day long

I got a cheap Remington Ionic off amazon and it is AMAZING! My hair is super soft, so easy to comb through, I am in love, and it only cost 25 quid or so.

NameChange30 · 17/10/2022 06:45

It does look good. £195 though.

Oh wow, I hadn't seen the price of the MD one yet! I usually buy professional ones from Sallys at about £100, I need the power. I do have the Dyson, never really got on with it, tends to make my hair frizzy.

NameChange30 · 17/10/2022 07:41

I've ordered this. Will report back.
