Effective methods for disciplining a fringe.

After watching an episode of mistresses I realised the means to my new look 2008 was with a fringe.

Went to super trendy salon (they all had beanies on, so therefore so cool they don't even need to show the customers their hair).

I left looking something like Reese Witherspoon, and was very happy.

But now it has been washed, and it rains and rains and I have an extremely non glamorous Lion-o from Thundercats event happening on my head.

I would dearly like to return to Reese-dom and not remain in '80s classic cartoon style.

Please help.

yup straighteners changed my life (and fringe) for ever

Dropdeadfred · 17/01/2008 13:16

have it full across forehead, dead straight, swept to the side, separated, curled under, flicked whatever you want!

cosima · 17/01/2008 13:19

get a round brush and blow dry it the opposite way, this makes it fall straight

TsarChasm · 17/01/2008 13:22

Yes straighteners. They can even iron my stupid cowlick fringe into shape.

I really enjoyed the Thundercats link, was dancing away to the music, I want a Thundercats hairdo, too. 80's is in, no?

Thank you for straighteners tips. I have some but am afraid of burning my forehead, will have to have a go any way as a downward going fring will cover any burn marks. Sorry about taking a day to reply, mntalk is still crashing my computer....will have to e-mail the tech team again.

Put it on the naughty step!

I must admit my hair is soo straight that i have no trouble with my fringe. I just blow dry it using a round brush and it hangs there like a curtain.

brimfull · 18/01/2008 08:32

blow dry on high
back and forth from left to right really fast
then a quick cool blast

that's how my hairdresser told me to do it

mine looks too harsh and "prisoner cellblock h "like when O use straighteners

VickyA · 18/01/2008 09:31

I stick a large-ish velcro roller in my fringe when I've washed it, leave it for 5-10 mins then roughly dry with hairdryer along with rest of hair. I do't look like I've "just stepped out of salon"m but neither like I've been dragged through ahdge backwards, so it works for me!

bramblebooks · 18/01/2008 21:28

I think the only way I'm going to be able to do mine is to put it into one of those panini presses having heated it in the cappuccino maker.

The hairdresser manages wonders, but I tell my friends to make the most of it, as it'll be the only time it looks good until I go back to the hairdressers again. As soon as I wash it I look like I've plugged my toe into the leccy socket.

I aspire to be a 'glossy woman' but I think I'll just have to be worzel gummidge!

Mymeems · 18/01/2008 21:34

I find straighteners a bit too harsh on my fringe too, so generally go for a blow drying method with a big round brush. Then if it's really wayward I'll resort to GHDs...that said, i bought my mum some of the mini GHD.. finger stylers (!) I think they are called - good size for fringe control

bramblebooks · 21/01/2008 21:29

hmmm. next time my fingers need styling I know who to ask.
