i have a very difficult situation my just turned 3 year old is a size 4-5 (very tall) matalan and george don’t have much choice for jeans and tops etc. H&m sizes are 2-4 (too small) or 4-6( to big) where else sells nice but affordable clothing for her size (not primark as not local)

I also tave a tall DD, aged 5 but in 7-8 clothing. I get a lot of her stuff at M&S or Next, but we also get some Boden or Frugi stuff on ebay. She loves lots of colour and that's getting harder to find as we go into bigger sizes. I've found Boden and Frugi clothing actually looks like little girl clothes rather than mini teen!

Zara?

barelyfunctional · 11/07/2022 08:12

Sainsburys always has lovely girls clothes

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 11/07/2022 08:13

M&S, sainsburys or Next

Reluctantadult · 11/07/2022 08:14

I would recommend getting from vinted. It's a second hand clothes app, but you can filter for new items if you prefer. Kids grow so fast there's lots that doesn't get worn and would be heading to landfill.

Benjaminsniddlegrass · 11/07/2022 08:15

Boden stuff on vinted, you will get lovely quality clothes at half the price.

ItsSnowJokes · 11/07/2022 08:16

Next, m&s, maxomorra, zara.

chilledbubble · 11/07/2022 08:40

Check out ebay?

quickbathroombreak · 11/07/2022 08:41

M&S - the 3 for 2 on kids clothes is good value, all year round, and includes a great range of tops, sweatshirts and leggings. My Dd is very tall too (now 4 but mostly wearing 6-7 years) I've always found the leggings good - not too big round the waist but long enough, and last well. I also like sainsburys.

StinkyKid · 11/07/2022 08:45

Another vote for Sainbury’s

Ooh yes M&S 3 for 2 is good

I have exactly the same.
if she is tall and skinny then John Lewis is good. M&S also some nice stuff.
sainsburys I find to actually be quite pricey for a supermarket but there’s some nice bits.
my DD is fairly chunky though so most of the above fit her in length but tend to get too tight round the waist before she grows out of the length IYSWIM. Now my go-to places are Next, George at Asda and Lindex. Lindex are Swedish like H&M so are set up for tall kids but seem to fit more generously and leggings have adjustable waists. Some leggings and the long sleeve tops also have turn down cuffs so they last longer.

thanks everyone, of to check out a few of the suggestions this morning

Also I’m all for second hand shopping but it’s so hard to find stuff that fits my girl nicely that I’ve given up with eBay/Vinted because you can’t return stuff.

Triffid1 · 11/07/2022 11:09

Agree with a PP - if she's tall but v slim, M&S is a good shout.

If she's tall but also wider, I'd recommend Sainsbury's.

I bought DD a lot of stuff on the Joules sales at that age.

IvorCutler · 11/07/2022 12:20

Definitely Zara, it’s often small in the waist so I’m sure 4-5 would be fine. My son was wearing a size 6 there when he was 2! (He’s tall and slim)

Twizbe · 11/07/2022 12:21

Sainsburys both boys and girls section. My daughter lives in her brothers old jeans in the winter. Sainsburys ones are really good.
