I know there’s YouTube but I don’t know where to start or who to watch
and when they start talking about all the different brushes and palettes I get a bit overwhelmed

I’m getting married and it’s a tiny wedding (literally just a registry office ceremony), I can’t afford a MUA so I want to do my own makeup

Please can you anyone tell me the basics
what brushes do I need
where should I be investing (for example can I get a cheap eyeshadow as long as I spend on foundation or whatever)
how the actual fuck do you apply false lashes

any advice at all - I’m starting to panic that I’ll look awful

When they want you more tanned/orange it's because they don't have your shade in foundation! hahah! Tell them you have serious skin allergies so you need to take samples home to test because it takes a couple of hours to get spots on chin, that way they should avoid trying to get you to buy something on the spot. Same for eyeshadow: I get pink eye sometimes so I need to try it today and see how my eyes look tomorrow before buying.
Jokes aside, try MAC for foundation, try the Studio Fix in Fluid and the Body and Face, get samples to test comfort, colour and whether it works with your skincare. Bobbi Brown's foundation doesn't work for my combination skin... Cheeky recommendation: skip the sunscreen for the day to help... The Antisseptic spray I recommended is good for open pores too (but I really wanted to add to avoid the eyes obviously which I didn't say before).

It's a conspiracy!
Powder eyeshadow will never "go off".

Mascara, be a bit careful. 1yr I reckon.

@Oceanus thats what I thought! To be fair I do struggle with a colour match. I’ve been to multiple counters, and they’ve tried a few and said sorry no, we don’t really have a good match for you. So I can’t expect a MUA to have a colour that matches, so if I’m going to need to take my own foundation Again I’m thinking ah may as well just do it myself, that’s half the battle anyway haha

great lines for the sales! Thank you for all your advice!!

@ChinBristles thanks! I agree! I’ve had an Anastasia Beverly Hills powder contour pallet for about 6 years because I can’t figure out how it could have gone off and it was a huge amount of money to me at the time so I can’t bare to part with it hahaha

If you're not getting a good match in foundation or ended up looking too orange you may need a pink or neutral undertone. The fashion has leaned towards yellow tones much more in recent years so they are harder to find but they are out there.

Pink looks awful on me @LadyOfTheCanyon
ive just googled after what you said (based on the one foundation I’ve found that does match) and I actually need a neutral undertone
I find yellow looks a bit grey and ‘dirty’ and pink looks orangey
i didn’t actually know why some colours didn’t work though so I’m glad I at least know what undertones I’m looking for now!

To get some ideas look at Lisa Eldridge on You Tube. I believe she has done some bridal make up. She is a sensible person so you won't end up expecting to be 'contoured' within an inch of your life and looking like an oompa loompa!!!
