Trainers for wide feet, but also deep (too to underside of foot) toe area

I’m looking for wide, machine washable trainers please that would fit my wide feet (due to bunions) but my feet are also quite ‘thick’ - for want of a better word - in this area, as the top to the underside of my foot takes up a lot of space!

I’ve tried sketchers and allbirds amongst others. I’d hoped the allbirds would be the answer to everything but there isnt enough room from the top to the underside of my foot in them, so they put a lot of pressure on the sides of my feet and then they hurt. They’re perfect in all other aspects.

Im a size 4. Any brand, willing to pay up to £100 but would prefer to pay less 😀

I have bunions and I like Asics, but I buy a size up as they seem to fit small. They are very roomy across the front.

Beggars can't be choosers. DB Wider Fit is worth a close look.

Adidas tend to be wide fitting, also Brooks. These are both serious sports, not fashion, brands. Look for them in the sales; your feet will thank you.

Look into barefoot shoes - they are properly foot shaped. Happy Little Soles stocks a wide range of brands although I mostly order from abroad these days.

Adidas Ozweegos.... comfy as hell 😀

Another vote for barefoot shoes, e.g Merrell or Vivobarefoot. The Vivo ones may not be deep enough for you, but worth looking through their range.

Fellow bunion sufferer here. I had to attend a chiropodist recently as I had developed metatarsalgia.

Chiropodist recommended I buy either Asics, Brooks or Hoka trainers as they all have a wide toe box, or doc Martens.

She also said that its important that the sole heel is higher than the toe if you know what I mean. So no flatform type styles.

So far I've bought and worn the Asics (pic attached) and I fear I may never wear any other shoe again, they're so comfortable!

I also bought the Brooks in pic attached, haven't worn them yet but I note they are specifically walking shoes so I have high hopes for them. (I won't be buying any Docs as they're so stiff and heavy and I have very bad arthritis in back/hips/knees/ankles).

The Mizuno Wave series are great for high arches (I think that is what you meant?) and have a wide toe box. My mum has really bad bunions and swears by them. They're not fashionable though, just very comfy running shoes.

If you want something less chunky, try some of those soft mesh-type sneakers like Nike Tanjun or Revolution (lots of other brands have similar ones). They are very soft, light and stretchy and will easily adapt to wider feet / high arches.

ASICS every time

Footle · 04/07/2022 22:10

What you're looking for are shoes with a deep and wide toe-box.

CMOTDibbler · 04/07/2022 22:11

Hoka wide fit are very good - both my dh and ds have wide and high feet and wear them.

Athrawes · 05/07/2022 21:35

Altra trainers have a deep toe box and wide fit

And are very good shoes for comfort. Highly recommended. Merrells are good too.

Just coming back to say that I tried loads on, some of which were recommended above, so thank you. I’ve gone with Nike Revolution 6 which had loads more room in the toe box than the adidas and some of the more walking shoe brands. I sized you, as I found them small in the length, so maybe that has helped, but I am hopeful! Cheapest stockist was sports direct.
