What do you do on holiday to keep it tamed? It's absolutely out of control and I want to cry 😭

I wash it, cover the ends with loads of leave in conditioner and twist into a topknot whilst wet.

D0lphine · 03/07/2022 20:53

I put it in 2 French plaits in the sea / pool / in humidity. Gel down the edges.

Bellyups · 03/07/2022 21:00

Loads of conditioner and oil on ends, and unfortunately have to keep it up most of the time.

Fizzibility · 03/07/2022 21:14

Thank you. Lots of good tips here. Should've done that before it got to birds nest stage

Brazilian blow dry.

Life changing.

AgathaX · 03/07/2022 21:18

Second the Brazilian blow dry. DIY so it doesn't have to cost much, it really makes such a difference though

Waterdropsdown · 03/07/2022 21:19

Third Brazilian blow dry such a difference on holiday

AnneLovesGilbert · 03/07/2022 21:21

Superdrug pre shampoo stuff, it’s amazing.

Recently started using Garnier leave in conditioner which I love. Mine is wavy and this really brings out a nice shape.

Whatever else I’m on I use Elvive Extraordinary oil which makes it smooth and silky.

What's a Brazilian blow dry?

Waterdropsdown · 03/07/2022 22:34

It’s a chemical called keratin which you put on your hair and “seal” in with straighteners, leave for 3 days and then wash out. It leaves your hair silky smooth for c3 months. It’s lovely (once you get to wash your hair). You can buy on Amazon and do yourself (it’s v hard work, I’ve done it)
or you can pay a hairdresser (it’s quite expensive). I can’t not have it done - although I get it about every 5 months.

BlackSwan · 03/07/2022 23:17

Have you tried lamellar water?
keastase is good (“K Water”) but heavily fragranced. The other good one is Redken extreme bleach recovery.

You apply it and rinse it out immediately and your hair becomes instantly smooth and silky. It’s quite different.

I’ve had the Brazilian blow dry too - though I have loads of hair it is fine and made my hair too flat. Three days without washing is a pain also.

NoToLandfill · 04/07/2022 00:30

I would try the loreal 8 second wonder stuff. Use it each time you rinse your hair out. And after warm up a few drops of olive oil in your palms and smooth it over the ends and lengths. Then plait hair for further swimming.

I always go to a local hair salon when I am on holiday for a wash and blow if there isn’t one in the Hotel that I am staying at and I always buy some hair products there.

Bunty55 · 04/07/2022 00:44

As someone else has said, wet it, put conditioner in and tie it up

Oceanus · 04/07/2022 01:32

The original Brazilian blowdry was be with a product that contains formaldeide... If you go for that just check, better safe than sorry!
I bought a beige spray for curls from Kerastase, though it wasn't for me. After trying all sorts of shampoos, conditioners and the like, I gave up and got this! Works like a charm!

LemonSwan · 04/07/2022 01:37

Moroccan oil and plaiting whilst wet (really smooth the sections as you plait). Once it’s dry it’s effortless beautiful hair.

whattodo2019 · 04/07/2022 22:37

lots of oil on the ends every night
