A cruelty-free alternative to CeraVe, Cetaphil?

ChinBristles · 03/07/2022 13:53

Hello,

I have very pale, redness prone skin with a tendency to visible pores.

I like CeraVE hydrating cleanser, CeraVe moisturising cream and Cetaphil SPF 50 Daily Defence.

Apparently as these are sold in China, they are not cruelty free! Does anyone know of any good alternatives. I like Dr Sam Bunting products but they are very expensive. And turns out Eucerin isn't cruelty free either?!

Thank goodness Paula's Choice is cruelty free - I use the 2% salicylic BHA toner like everyone else on the planet!

Thanks

Dermalogica might have something. It’s not sold in China.

TheSpottedZebra · 03/07/2022 15:23

Have you tried the Aldi hot cloth cleanser? Vegan and leaping bunny etc etc. Suits my pale sensitive red-prone skin!

Actually I quite like all the Aldi bits I've tried, but many of them drift in and out of availability.

Is inkey list cruelty free?

Luredbyapomegranate · 03/07/2022 15:25

Aveeno maybe?

boots will have some own brand offerings which will be cruelty free

darisdet · 03/07/2022 15:27

I use Cerave (and Paula's choice bha - glad that's fine) and didn't know that. Watching thread if you don't mind, OP.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/07/2022 15:28

Superdrug own brand is properly cruelty free too.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/07/2022 15:29

Think aveeno is tested on animals too.

Pancakeorcrepe · 03/07/2022 15:33

Superdrug own brand, Aldi stuff and Dermalogica. Dermalogica is a bit more expensive but the products are great and will last ages. I think when you have sensitive and delicate skin you have to invest in it a bit more. Skin is an organ after all so you are looking after your health.

inappropriateraspberry · 03/07/2022 15:34

The products here will be cruelty free, but unfortunately they can't guarantee that their products in China will be, as they have different laws. It's the same for all cosmetics, they can't control what the Chinese government do with them re testing etc.

Tubbyinthehottub · 03/07/2022 15:45

MooGoo hydrating cleanser is just like Cetaphil. It's not tested on animals but it is made with a milk protein so it's not vegan if that's what you're after.

ChinBristles · 03/07/2022 16:55

Excellent point - products which are not sold in China so Aldi, Boots, Superdrug etc will be cruelty-free. And cheaper than some poncier brands.

yep, Aveeno test on animals

britinnyc · 03/07/2022 22:59

Chinese law has changed, you can now sell without testing on animals. So the fact that things are sold in China no longer means that they are tested on animals

Norma27 · 04/07/2022 06:14

It looks like there are hoops to go through re China. Many things will still be tested on animals. I would still be reluctant to buy products from companies who sold there when they knew that meant their products were not cruelty free.

Aveeno are not cruelty free

crumpet · 07/07/2022 10:52

I think Glossier is cruelty free

Bearsan · 07/07/2022 11:41

I buy nearly all my skincare from Holland and Barrett - cruelty free, reasonable price - (lots of offers on), I only buy alcohol free and the ingredients list on products are much more understandable than most.
Dr Organic is really good.

xogossipgirlxo · 07/07/2022 13:39

I like Tropic products (I'm not their ambassador btw.). I use rainforest dew serum and skin feast cream. Both lovely and cruelty free.

Cathyjh · 28/12/2024 18:17

QV products are amazing! Cruelty free. Basically Australias version of Cetaphil / Cerave. Can buy in boots and on Amazon 😃

They no longer have to be animal tested for sales in China
