I follow a few and I have to say I have found them useful at times but it bothered me….how many clothes do they actually need???? Are they all free? Do they send them back?

I am getting to the point where I am ‘fGS not ANOTHER maxi dress???’. Also they all share the same stuff so it gets boring, and how do they find the time????

Unfollow it all. Delete Instagram if you need to. I did three years ago and am so relieved I don't have anything to do with this anymore.

A lot of them buy, wear for a few videos and then return. Or they return their "hauls" that they've used for a video. For example, I used to see loads of Zara hauls, where they'd buy loads and try on etc etc. and now Zara charge for returns, they're actually having to go into the stores and just filming themselves trying them on in the changing room.

I really don't think they keep much of it. And will prob try to blag freebies where they can.

I had Kat farmer on Instagram recommended to me recently. I found it baffling that she's a fashion guru, with a TV slot and a book. Her own fashion sense (always very similar) fair enough, but her recommendations and hypocrisy about sustainability and affordability. Awful!

I knew it couldn't just be me, and sure enough there are countless eye-opening threads on Tattle.

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you - there's no way on earth that DMBL40 is going around dressed in Tu clothing in real life!

That's the person I've just mentioned! And no she's not going around in real life wearing Tu.

I unfollowed her sharpish! Every photo is a wide open-mouth grin, over some lunch, artfully arranged at an eatery or self made 'deprecation' depends on the day, which mightn't irritate alone but for the poor 'fashion' talk. She does beauty as well, but has a lot of fillers and Botox (she admits to this and put on a video once).

The sheer amount of clothes these people own is disgusting really. It’s one thing knowing that rich people buy a lot of stuff and are wasteful, but it’s quite another having it presented to us as something to aspire to. It turns over consumption into a positive value.

I follow a lot of cat accounts on Instagram 😂 they don't try and sell me anything!

Agree with you OP about the waste, and the complete lack of authenticity, of style influencers.

That website is fascinating! I mean, we know it's a business and they are paid to promote particular brands, but there it is in black and white!

No thanks to the poster who sent me down the dubious rabbit hole that is tattle life! I feel sightly dirty now. And yet I can't stop reading!

One Instagram "style " blogger (whatever you call them) has made a career on posting reels going shopping /try clothes on
Being sent thousands of pounds of free clothes
And is now on her 6 th pr gifted holiday /cruise in the last 3 months

Yeah, that's the case for dozens of them, not one!

Biggest. Rabbit hole. Ever. Jesus christ!! Couldn't stop reading the Sali Hughes threads. Not my cup of tea anyway but wow the discussions on there... eye opening indeed. Didn't know she was pals with India K and her paedophile partner either. Didn't fancy her skincare range anyway!

I do get frustrated when people say "I bought that night cream Blah Blah recommended". Stop bloody encouraging them via their affliate links!

it's not as bad with shoes and dresses because they are what they are; there's no issue of "works" or "won't work" like with beauty products.
