Stitch Fix review

Hi,

I used a poster’s stitch fix referral code a few months ago so thought I would leave a quick review for others.

My first box wasn’t quite right for me however, there was a lovely long cardigan which I chose to keep. After this box I selected to change stylist and after this I have received 3 further boxes with some great pieces. I feel the stylists will always select items that are at the top end of your budget so be careful of that when selecting your budget range . Nearly all of the pieces I have kept have pushed me a little out of my comfort zone and stopped me from living in jeans and a T-shirt! You are sent an email with 10 items and you then chose the 5 items you would like posted to you.

Overrall I have found it a great way to shop without having to physically go to a shop or trawl through thousands of items online.

My £15 discount code is below (for transparency this will also give me £15 credit).

Thanks for posting this. I am in a total clothing rut and have been considering trying out Stitch Fix. I think I will give it a go!

I got my most recent box. I'm keeping none of it. I asked for nothing sleeveless so they sent me a jumpsuit with straps so essentially sleeveless.

A top I liked on the preview is unflattering on. Rest of it I can't even be bothered to try on.

I have had some nice stuff in other boxes.

My first box was good and kept a few things. Two subsequent boxes were a bit shit but kept one item from each so ok for the money. The final box I had was hideous. Frump Central to the point where I felt quite offended at the idea I would wear it. So I cancelled. I feel like they're ultimately pushing you to their own brand clothes which are all synthetic materials and mostly butt ugly. I love the concept and if they used brands, I'd love it.

I used them for a while and eventually gave up. I kept getting frumpy, own brand clothes, despite repeatedly feeding back to say I didn't want their brands, etc. I gave extremely clear feedback and sent in extremely clear requests and they just didn't listen. My last box was awful and I finally gave up.

My first box was great, kept all 5 items and wear them a great deal.
Second Fix - of the 10 items for preview to down select the 5 I'd get sent to try, 3 of them were items I'd had (and kept) from my first box. I'd done the daily style quizzes on the website so it's not like the stylist didn't have any more information to go off. I did keep 3/5 from that box and have worn one item in particular each week. But, I felt cheated of options. I did feed this back twice - both under the preview feedback and the box feedback.
Arranged another for next week, will see what happens with that

I quite liked some of the items but none of it was worth the money. Apart from one mango dress in the first box it's all their own brands which are overpriced. Supermarket/H&M quality but higher prices.

I had two boxes but only kept one thing from the first one and nothing from the second.

PutYourBackIntoit · 04/07/2022 11:36

I have also cancelled after 18 months of a box every 3 months, after also getting a box of frump 3 boxes in a row. I gave feedback each time, changed stylist and after an initial improvement, back to frump.

Shame because the concept really suited me, and I do think the process/returns is good.

I think Stitch fix is great but depends who you are/your circumstances I suppose so here are mine - I am prone to impulse purchases where I like a top or whatever but have nothing to go with it si it sits in my wardrobe. I can’t get to the shops very often. When I do I need things to look nice so I am every shop’s dream - if it’s displayed nicely surrounded my other nice things I will be more drawn to it (the whole idea!). Even if it’s an overpriced top I have lots of already.

that’s where this stitch fix thing has really suited me (no pun intended!). I don’t expect all items to be perfect .. so a box where I buy one thing is fine with me, but different to the other reviewers. It pushes me out of my comfort zone and they have picked things that I would never pick off the shelf, materials or things that look ‘cheap’ off, but lovely on. Brands I’ve never heard of and things that go together. Quite a varied price range, but sure what their ‘own brands’ are but if they look good more than happy to wear them. I would never go to New Look or TK Max or even Next, but I know people who do and look great. If this is a way of me finding these cheaper end items without sifting through the dregs then that’s a win for me

theres no financial loss as A shopping spree with coffee, parking, petrol, returns, impulse buys is way over the tenner they charge for each box and it’s taken off any purchases.

I would say try it, nothing to lose. It’s fulfilling a need rather than trying to con you into anything, bit like hello fresh or gousto.

I quite liked it with some caveats

I'd describe my style as sports luxe (only if I had to describe it that is!) - I wear high ish end sporty, laid back stuff but not Lycra or crop tops!

I knocked 20 years off my age as I didnt want them sending me anything 'age appropriate' as they saw fit

I kept some bits but also returned a fair bit too

FlorencePennnywell · 27/08/2022 20:40

I think my main issue was trying to convey to them what my style was and - more importantly - what it wasn't
