Size inclusive swimwear ( not hideous)

Divebar2021 · 29/06/2022 18:16

Another swimwear one sorry. I’ve had a last minute change to my holiday and now find myself going to a beach rather than a city. I’m looking for simply styled swimwear that will accommodate my size 16/18 hourglass figure. I would like:

  • one piece or two piece with a high waist
  • supportive cups but not push up ( uncomfortable). Cups can be hidden. Cropped top, Halter neck and high apex are good
  • full coverage on the derrière
  • plain colours or simple print. Prefer not black. Ive looked at all the usual suspects but plus size tends to be ruched, skirted, frilly, with hideous prints. Minimalist brands are small sizes with no support or my entire rear would be hanging out. I found a really nice brand in Australia but it’s really pricey. Photos attached show the shapes I like. Any suggestions welcome please

Bravissimo is my go to. Although a lot of bottoms seem to be sold out at the moment so I haven't ordered anything.

I'm also following for suggestions.

Elomi

linenalltheway · 29/06/2022 19:28

Also next is quite good if Elomi out of budget

mobear · 29/06/2022 19:29

Boden.

Stroopwaffels · 29/06/2022 19:41

I am a size 14/16 and have had brilliant swimwear from a company called Niptuck. Think they are Australian but I got mine from tk maxx online.

CMOTDibbler · 29/06/2022 19:46

Depending on budget, Deakin and Blue have really nice one pieces and some of their bikinis are lovely. I have a costume from them and it always gets commented on, the mesh makes it really special

MsOllie · 29/06/2022 20:07

Anything here?

I second Boden, I have got three bikinis from there, high waists and comfortable support. Especially like the Portofino design.
Also they currently a sale on too.

Sumlove · 29/06/2022 20:30

I'm plus size and have been completely surprised by Shein plus swimwear. Great high waist bikinis, also got a great swimsuit. And I usually struggle as I'm tall as well as curvy - size 20-22.

Today I took delivery of a landsend tankini top and full brief. I am a 14 bottom and 16ff top.

very pleased with them. Tankini is wired with adjustable straps. It’s a little more covered that my other pour moi/bravissimo bikinis but still less hassle in the loo than a one piece.

bigbluebus · 29/06/2022 20:55

I was going to suggest Lands End too.

princessbear80 · 29/06/2022 21:57

The middle photo you’ve posted looks a lot like the inclusive swimwear from Alex Light London on Instagram.

DinosaursEatMan · 29/06/2022 22:13

Seafolly Goddess twist swimsuit. Though colours are fairly boring.

Divebar2021 · 29/06/2022 22:53

I am looking at all your suggestions everyone thank you very much. Some of these I’ve never heard of so that’s great. About 3 years ago I went to California and wore 2 bikinis from Pour Moi. I had been reading a body positivity thread on MN which resulted in a bunch of ladies posting photos of themselves wearing bikinis so I was inspired. Those bikinis were glamorous but very uncomfortable ( push up with underwires). The swimsuits I had were 2 layers and ruched over the stomach and stayed damp and clammy for ages. I just wanted to be softly supported with a modern look. Sadly lots of styles ( particularly the bottoms) I’ve looked at have been sold out but I’ll keep looking.

@princessbear80

I don’t know why I’ve never heard of her but she looks like someone I should follow.

@MsOllie

Ive never heard of Reign studio but they look good - good prices too. I like the pink bikini but the bottoms are out of stock. Thanks for the recommendation though

Lands End
Ulla Popken
Deakin and Blue if you are feeling flush

Rooma · 29/06/2022 23:00

Not the point of thread, but what's the Australian brand from pics in your original post?

Thx!

Divebar2021 · 30/06/2022 09:00

@Rooma

Yeah sorry about that - I would have posted the name but couldn’t remember at the time of posting but they are Saint Somebody

If you like those you might also like another brand called Understatement who I absolutely love but who don’t have a bikini brief with full coverage. Gutted

@FlamingosInThePark

Bravissimo are good for tops but horrible for bottoms… they think everyone wants to wear Brazilian cut ( which is ok if you want your arse hanging out but the world does not need to see mine)

You should have a look on in the style I have the app it's amazing and has a lot of different swimwear a lot of which is modelled by the average size I love it

badlydrawncat · 02/07/2022 11:01

I bought a Regatta Tankini a couple of years ago, purely because I could use the top as a tank top to go out sight-seeing for the day and the bottoms under a skirt, then just go for a quick swim on the way home.

I was surprised how flattering it is. Mine's a size 16 but it's happily accomodating my Italian pasta and pizza tum that's probably a size 18 now and is making a valiant go at controlling my 34Gs too, though I wouldn't dare take the straps off and stand up! I just roll the top up while sunbathing if I want a tum tan. Mine's a b&w version of this one www.next.co.uk/style/st555911/287683
