Hello
has anyone tried one of these
? ceramic smoothing brush ? Are they better than straighteners (as in less damaging) only 9.99 so maybe worth a try but I don’t want to get something that’s a waste of time and more clutter
thanks

I have the Amika straightening brush. It's fine nowhere near as good as my Steampod. I have thick curly hair so it would probably work better if you have a different texture.

Boscoforever · 26/06/2022 18:38

I have this hot air dryer. Best thing I ever bought for my thick hair.

Thank you for replies ….@Boscoforever I have considered this one actually…my hair is fine though not curly just a bit wavy unless it’s smoothed out but I’m not great at blow drying plus I feel it pulls a lot of hair out that wouldn’t necessarily be shed if you know what I mean which in’s why I was wondering if the ‘hot brush’ would pull hair out and end up full of hair
I’ve seen a few of those for quite bargain prices on eBay ‘used once’
mostly I wear my hair up though as it’s quicker and easier and more comfortable but would be nice to have it down every so often

appreciate the replies, thank you.

@Mercurial123
I had the steam pod once at the hairdressers must admit it’s effective - amazing results and lasted about a week very smooth and silky

I've got the GHD one. V expensive but totally worth it for me. It literally takes me 5 mins to go from fluffy, frizzy mess to sleek and silky.

userxx · 26/06/2022 23:32

I bought a revlon (I think) one. Tried it once but didn't get on with it, more flippin clutter!

Musicforsnorks · 27/06/2022 00:49

Oooh i gave up ghd's 5 yrs ago after finding these!
I have very porous, frizzy curly/wavy hair, and as much as i love the idea of leaving it to nature it always looks parched and fuzzy even though i look after it and hydrate it really well. It's just my hair!

I have a revlon hot brush that works really well. I let my hair dry naturally with heat serum on the ends and stroke the brush through gently in sections. It resolves the frizz and straightens my hair but does not flatten it. So It looks healthier and more natural.
To combat frizz, we need a product that helps the cuticle to lie flat, and this is different for every hair type.
I use the WOW dream hair thingy, it leave my hair shiny and less humidity vulnerable.

Straighteners parched and snapped my hair, a hot brush does no damage, after 5 yrs of use.

Musicforsnorks · 27/06/2022 00:50

oh and my hair is fine and lots of it, as they say. Anything more time consuming than somethnig I smooth through and move on would piss me off.

If you can stretch to the revlon one it really is worth it, quick too as the large round head does my hair in just a few sections.

I've used something similar to the lidl one you've linked to and it wasn't a patch on the revlon one.

TwoMonthsOff · 27/06/2022 12:11

@thewreckofthehesperus
The Lidl one is a hot brush to use on dry hair - I understand that revlon one is an actual ‘blow dryer’ so use on wet hair, have I got that right ? Thanks

I have the GHD Glide brush and it's been relegated to the back of the hotpress! It's ok but definitely doesn't straighten my thick wavy hair as well as straightners do, and I find it a bit of a faff to use. So it was a total waste of (a lot of) money for me. I wish there was some way of trying out these gadgets before we buy them!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 27/06/2022 12:21

Also, its definitely as bad as if not worse than straightners. There's just one temperature (boiling!) and my hair does get pulled on it.

CointreauVersial · 27/06/2022 12:56

I have this Babyliss Smoothing Brush.

It's fab - and so quick. Doesn't give me poker-straight hair, but instantly smooths all the frizz, and I can flick the ends under too. I blow dry roughly first, then go over it with the hot brush. I can definitely recommend!

thewreckofthehesperus · 27/06/2022 13:18

Yes its a hot air straightener, i give my hair a blast with my normal dryer til its just damp. Brush my hair and then use this to straighten. It really works for me and gives great results quickly which was important to me (not a morning person and i prioritise the extra few mins in bed over hair styling lol)

Ive got a dyson airwrap and i have to say while i use that for going out and curling im more likely to reach for the revlon on a notmal day just cause its so easy.

thewreckofthehesperus · 27/06/2022 13:23

Meant to say while its def better if you use it on damp hair it does work well on dry hair too, again just a quick brush and a go over with the revlon hot air brush and I'm good to go.
