Has the 16:8 worked for anyone?

I’m on day 3. Finding it very easy but I’m sceptical! It’s too easy. I’m consuming around 1300 calories a day still but have cut down considerably on carbs. I’m peri menopausal.

Has it worked for anyone? Would love to hear success stories, particularly from other peri meni folk. Or alternatives! I am considering 18:6.

I’m not sticking to it strictly, as I’m still having 1-2 lattes in my fasting window, so my weight loss is very slow. But i have still lost 7 kg in one year. I also didn’t exercise and haven’t counted calories or combined 16:8 with any other diet. If you increase your exercise and watch what you eat, it should work.

no, that's pretty much my eating window without doing anything. Late lunch, early dinner.

What works for me is ''dieting'' every second day. I need to start doing it again. Doesn't even have to be as strict as fast. That recommends 500 for women.
Even doing 800 cals every second day I lost weight.

Right Ive talked myself in to doing it again, starting tomorrow. It's so much easier psychologically to diet every second day.

16:8 is my usual eating pattern as I don't eat after 5pm. This has always worked well for me in maintaining my weight but since perimenopause I'm finding it almost impossible to keep weight off.

In the last 6 months I've put on over a stone and it won't shift despite lowering my carbs and cutting back to under 1300 calories a day.

I'm interested in trying your dieting every second day plan @ComfyChairPose as I'm starting to feel really despondent about to he weight gain being permanent.

That sounds brilliant. Well done on your weight loss!

I do walk 10k steps a day already. I don’t drive and I have done for years. I have just gained so much weight since the onset of peri menopause and nothing seems to shift it.

Thank you, will definitely try this if I’m not seeing any shift after a week or two.

It feels so hopeless doesn’t it? I’ve gained 2 stone in the last couple of years (despite doing nothing differently) and it’s shit.

It definitely does @IvorCutler and doesn't help that I also feel constantly hungry these days!

It's great that you haven't found 16:8 too difficult so far and hope it works for you 🙂

1moreyear · 22/06/2022 20:28

I did it at the start of 2020 and lost 9lbs in the first 6 weeks. I started 16:8 then shifted to 18:6. Worked really well for me as curbed my binge habit. I don't do it atm because it's incompatible with my meds that make me light headed all the bloody time!

ValenTeeeeee · 22/06/2022 21:10

Well done @IvorCutler I would like to try this too so watching with interest if anyone cn share their experience.

Sisisimone · 22/06/2022 21:20

I'm doing the 16:8 and also keeping as low carb as possible. I also don't snack in between lunch and dinner so a mini fast of about 7 hrs there as well. I want to lose about 2.5 stone and the first stone has dropped off easily. Im finding it really easy to do and have so much more energy. People started commenting on my weight loss after about 4 weeks. I've been doing it for about 7 weeks now

ComfyChairPose · 22/06/2022 21:22

@IvorCutler on your normal day, you're not counting calories, so if it's somebody's birthday, you have a tiny slice of cake but although you're not counting calories or carbs or whatever, you're strongly aiming to not UNdo the day before. That's all.

I did it for years and stayed slim, then I was trying every diet under the son, keto, low carb, fasting. I just can't stick to them.

I'm going to start the only thing I know I can stick to tomorrow morning.
