Cream for hard skin on feet

I'm approaching 40 and the skin on my feet (particularly heels) has turned increasingly thick and looks like a layer of yellow acrylic 😷 My DM has feet exactly the same and gets them 'shaved' every three months at a place but the build up happens again very quickly.
I've started soaking them weekly and attacking the hard skin with a file thing, which helps, but within a day the skin is coarse again and builds up quite quickly. I moisture my feet and put on socks which helps but is not a solution by any means.

People used to recommend creams that podiatrists use, but I can't remember the name of it. Anyone? My feet are healthy with no cracks or anything so I'd rather just treat it at home.

I’ve battled with this for years, tried all the urea creams & what have you without much luck. But a few months ago I had a kind of brainwave - Nivea Creme (the really thick, white gloopy stuff in a blue tub, like your gran might have used)! This has long been my go-to for stubborn patches of dry skin elsewhere on my body so I thought, why not my feet? I’ve been massaging it in after my shower (most days - I don’t always have time/remember), with occasional scuffing off with a micro-pedi thing if it’s got a bit bad. I wouldn’t describe my feet as ‘baby soft’ now but probably as close as I’ll get at my age. It’s certainly a significant improvement on the last decade or so of expensive creams & lotions. Sometimes gran knew best!

Eucerin, it's got urea in it. I'm diabetic and have crocodile skin on my feet - it's the only thing that works for me.
