What treatments do you swear by?

I'm now 47 and after years of putting myself at the bottom of the list, I'm starting to take better care of myself. I'm losing weight, having regular manicures and pedicures and brow shaping.

I want to start giving myself some regular TLC which leads me to ask you wise women what treatments do you swear by that make you look and feel better and give you a lift?

I have pretty good skin and am considering dermaplaning as I'm definitely more 'peachy' than I've ever been before. I know a few people who say it's wonderful though I'm a little hesitant. What are your experiences?

I don't have any treatments at the moment but I'm considering dermaplaning too so I hope someone comes along with their experiences.

I love dermaplaning - it just makes me feel fresher and my make up go on better.

i get regular gel manicures / pedicures every 2 weeks.

LVL lashes and brow dying is also fabulous.

Botox also amazing!

stevalnamechanger · 22/06/2022 12:54

Botox
Prescription tret from Dermatica

stevalnamechanger · 22/06/2022 12:55

No derms recommend dermaplaning at all I'd avoid ,

Instead go for chemical peels / laser !

FruitFlies · 22/06/2022 13:13

Isn't dermaplaning just shaving your face?
I like overnight glycolic acid from Superdrug and the Garnier moisture bomb sheet mask.

Hereforthedramaz · 22/06/2022 13:36

I'd echo others with brows, they change/ make your whole face!

I'd add too, I've had 2 nano needling sessions. I've been primarily having it for brown spots but the overall effect on elasticity, clarity and glowiness of my skin is incredible!

Amazing effect on the brown spots too if anyone is interested!

Justthisonceharold · 22/06/2022 13:40

Tretinoin from a pharmacy in Andorra (way cheaper than anywhere else) and factor 50. That's the sum total of my routine and really happy with the results.

minipie · 22/06/2022 13:43

Perhaps not a treatment but regular visits to the dental hygienist. Every so often I think about whitening my teeth, then visit the hygienist and voila, no need.

I would certainly consider teeth whitening if the hygienist visit didn’t do the job any more though.

Regular highlights

Exercise I actually enjoy

BlueHawaii · 22/06/2022 14:17

Dermaplane and microneedling every 5/6 weeks.... really helps and always get comments on my skin

princessbear80 · 22/06/2022 14:19

I use anti aging/anti pigment from Dermatica and seriously considering Botox.

Tinted brows
LVL on lashes
(but looking for at home options for these so I can then spend that money on Botox!)

princessbear80 · 22/06/2022 14:20

oh and of course SPF everyday!

RockStarMartini · 22/06/2022 14:31

@Hereforthedramaz tell me more about the nano-needling, I’ve got awful brown spots.

Sorry to hijack OP, I’d echo what others have said about brows and I always feel better for a massage or pedicure.

Great, genuinely my favourite topic atm!

In short, it's great.

I had one session about a month ago, and then another one yesterday. My lady took photos under her mag light before both sessions and after just one session it had already started to break downs you could see big sections of my normal extremely pale skin coming through. I was not expecting such quick results.

100% painless, just feels like a lovely facial.

I've had laser previously and I'd strongly say try this first! The lady I use has been doing quite a few, mostly for brown spots and says all of her clients have seen significant reductions in brown spots, but of no guarantees.

Apparently some people go quite red after and can sensitive (they give you calming products to use for 48 hours) but personally I didn't even go slightly red or anything.

They adjust what the nano needle "pushes" into your skin as well so adaptable to your skin.

I'm an aesthetician. Please don't dermaplane your skin, it may look good short term, but long term it messes up your skin barrier.

I'd suggest going to see a well qualified skin specialist, someone with a level 4 qualification, or experienced level 3 with a skin specialism. They'll be able to analyse your skin to see what's going on, recommending homecare and treatments. They'll look at lifestyle, diet, etc to get a holistic picture of what's going on.

A good homecare routine, sleep, healthy balanced diet and drinking 1.5-2 litres of water can work wonders. In clinic treatments are just the icing on the cake.

Thank you for this advice. I've decided not to.

Can I ask how much the tretinoin costs in Andorra? Thanks

doadeer · 22/06/2022 20:50

Honestly I would do something that just feels nice and is relaxing like a Gua Sha facial. Treat yourself to nice things!

bloodybindweed · 22/06/2022 20:55

Dermatica
Botox
Micro blading

Imabouttoexplode · 22/06/2022 21:05

Botox. The single most effective treatment for any vertical or horizontal lines. Makes them disappear like magic! Forget frownies, lotions n potions, microneedling etc. Save your time and money and just get botox!

€19.95 for 30g, so much cheaper than Skin & Me or Dermatica. One tube lasts for ages.
