Waterproof mascara that's easy to take off?

I have really oily sensitive skin so I need to use waterproof hypoallergenic mascara. I really liked the Clinique Lash Power, it doesn't budge but the problem is taking it off. It's meant to come off with warm water but in reality it takes a lot of scrubbing and wiping and it comes off in weird clumps that get left behind in my eyes and it's actually causes me to get clogged oil glands in my lid now which will need to be removed surgically.

So what can I use instead after my eyes are back to normal?

Price isn't an issue! Thanks

I use baby oil to get mascara off, works a treat.

My eyes are a disaster when it comes to mascara - oily eyelids and sensitive, allergic to everything eyes that canmake even the hardiest mascara run.

I always used to buy waterproof mascara and have tried a million and one, but still found a lot of them weren't really as hardy as they said or like you've found very hard to remove. Incidentally, I find Clinique mascaras to be the worst in terms of adverse reactions.

The one I've bought over and over again is actually not advertised as waterproof - it's the hourglass caution extreme lash one. Stays put and easy to remove with a hot microfibre makeup cloth. It comes in a travel size which makes it not to expensive to try out.

I'm prone to pink eye & also allergic to eye stuff which is supposed to be hypoallergenic but mascara was never a problem for allergies -(sunscreens, creams and eyeliners etc are my issue). I have oily lids and am prone to smudging too. So take my opinion with a pinch of salt: Maybelline waterproof (any of them depending on what you want length/volume), so you can toss them in the bin regularly (when things are expensive I tend to want them to last longer...). Three options for removing the mascara:

  • best one: Japanese oil makeup removers (I'm partial to the Kose ones and I get them online straight from Japan and from you know where). I pump on hand, then gently lather face/eyes -it all melts- and then if it were me I'd wash with tap water and be done. If I were you I'd go with micellar water after the oil.

  • easiest one: Clinique Take the Day Off for eyes & (any brand but I prefer Bioderma) micellar water after.

  • might (potentially) or might not work at all for you: cotton soaked in coconut oil (the good stuff not the one that smells like regular cooking oil), put the cotton on the lashes, leave for a bit and then it should all come off, I'd follow with micellar water to remove excess oil and the rest of makeup that isn't soluble in oil but water.

I quite like Boots no7 stay perfect, reviews are a bit mixed but doesn't run or smudge yet comes off really easily with warm water, no rubbing. Works for me

I like the maybelline one in a rose gold tube. Clarins eyemakeup remover is amazing and so is simple cleanding oil.

The trick is to put on the remover and leave it for a couple of minutes before trying to remove makeup. It will work better.
