Clothes Steamer

I know this isn’t strictly a style question but I thought you people who care about clothes could help. So, do I need one, are they better than ironing, do I need to spend a lot of money? Thanks!

I bought an inexpensive small one from Lidle and I like it!

I have considered using out steam wall paper stripper one as it has loads of attachments.

😂
do you use it instead of ironing? Is it quicker for fiddly items?

I have both a proper fancy SteamOne and a little portable travel steamer. If you only need to refresh sweaters and iron delicate items, the latter does the job just as well. But it's not as efficient on thicker cotton or linen.

I use mine regularly. It’s quicker than ironing and stops me looking a crumpled mess. Mine was cheap off Amazon.

It's great for sleeves and yes fiddly bits.

I'm a minimal ironer!

I bought a Fridja hand held clothes steamer off eBay. Got it years ago for half price as it had been used for demonstrations. I hate ironing so am contemplating a more robust steaming system but still researching it at the minute.

I have a hand held steamer from Steamery, it's fine for silk but a bit rubbish on cotton and linen. I prefer to iron.

LeeMiller · 18/06/2022 12:26

Ooh I want one to use for silk shirts and dresses, would a cheap/basic one be good enough for that?

LoobyDop · 18/06/2022 12:34

I bought one because I thought it would be a quicker way of getting the odd crease from hanging in the wardrobe than getting the ironing board and iron out. It really wasn’t, and I returned it. Waste of money, imo.

I use my steam iron held up close, give a quick blast seems to work

Burnamer · 18/06/2022 14:34

I’d use it for work dresses, which tend to be thick cotton or linen so maybe a handheld one would be sufficient.
What makes do people recommend?
