Bralettes - suitable?

Just wondering if anyone wears these M & S 'bralettes' or similar?

Or are they just suitable for young girls or those with very small busts? I am in my 50s, am size 34C. So many bras in the shops are either 'wired' or 'padded' or both. I am looking for something a little softer, more comfortable but wonder would they not provide sufficient support? I think these look lovely and are a good price.

I do and they are great. I took out the padding though!

passport123 · 17/06/2022 10:51

I'm probably a B cup

Thanks @passport123 . I hate padding, why is it in so many bras! I think I'll give them a go, they just look softer and more comfortable than regular bras.

I haven't tried the ones you posted but I bought these as they were recommended on MN and they are great! V comfy. I'm a 34C, I bought large because I detest feeling a tight band around my rib cage. They come in various colour ways. www.marksandspencer.com/ie/3pk-seamless-non-wired-bralettes/p/clp60500235?color=DARKRASPBERRY

I'm also in my 50s and a 36B/C. I wear them because I hate underwires, and they are fine for me - though some are more supportive than others. If they have a pad, that can help to give shape and support, but also in most of the padded ones I've bought, the pad is removable.

One thing I don't like though is they are almost all synthetic. V hard to find good cotton ones. Urban outfitters and anthropologie do some good modal ones.

Wishimaywishimight · 17/06/2022 11:12

@trulyconfuseddotcom They look good too and not too pricy, think I will buy a couple and try them out.

@RoseLunarPink That's my concern - that they won't be very supportive and, even though I'm not that big, I don't want to look saggy under fitted tops / blouses.

If you don't mind them being synthetic, these from Amazon are great - here. I have them and wear them, just wish I could get the same thing in cotton! They're supportive with optional pad.

But it's true that some types, especially if it's a flimsy triangle bra shape, will look saggy. You have to try a few I think and see what you like.

Wishimaywishimight · 17/06/2022 12:04

Thanks for that link @RoseLunarPink . I guess I will just try a few different ones and see what offers comfort as well as keeping a bit of shape/support.

I am a 34D and have a bralette from M&S similar but not all lace. Actually it is pretty supportive - I do wear it out and the shape under my clothes is not bad at all. The material is stretchy but seems to keep everything in place!

mrsrobin · 21/06/2022 19:35

I can't find it on M&S website but is is this one:

JanglyBeads · 21/06/2022 19:36

I bought some of these recently and love them. They do seem to give enough support and I'm bigger than you!

SheWoreYellow · 21/06/2022 19:38

That one specifically says it’s unpadded, OP, which is good if that’s what you want. Wouldn’t suit me as I’m quite conscious of nipple show through. It’s pretty though.

Octomore · 21/06/2022 20:54

I highly recommend the Fern Comfort bra from bravissimo. Very supportive, no underwire or padding.

JanglyBeads · 21/06/2022 22:22

My nipples don't show through it, just checked!

Thanks all, you have been most helpful - I will look up all of those suggestions!
