Inspired by the recent thread I have decided to try to wear make-up during the day and generally make an effort

So, I have problems with spots and blackheads, not major problems but I always have a few spots and get breakouts every few weeks. Because of this I decided to trial the Lillylolo mineral make-up.

I got the samples a few days ago and have worn the foundation, cover up and finishing powder for three days (including today)I have not changed anything else, this morning I have woken up with quite a few more spots and they are different to the ones I usually get (more boil like if that makes sense?). So my question is, is the make up doing my skin good by drawing this stuff out with the benefit being that my skin will be better in the long run or is this make up causing my skin trouble and should I desist from applying it immediately?

Sorry that was a bit in depth wasn't it

are you positive they are spotrs and not allergic hives. Are they itchy.

Sorry don't have any suggestions except doing a trial week with and without maybe.

They are not itchy I am sure they are not an allergic reation as such, ggirl I was thinking that however I was wondering how long to give it. I don't want to stop after a week if giving it 10 days would give me perfect skin

makeup may not be responsible. is more likely to be dried up winter skin irritated and causing more oil production.
no it isn't drawing anything out. yes you should give it a rest and see whether that helps.

fishie it is too much of a coincidence not to be the make up (just the way it has happened), my skin has a very defined cycle so I am sure that it is not oil production. You may be very right about stopping though... grrrrrr.. why are these things not easy?

I use lilylolo, not had anything like that. Definitely try stopping and see what happens.

thanks FBB, I will leave it for a few days and see what happens. It is very frustrating when I have just made the decision to try to look nice when I leave the house

As soon as I switched to LilyLolo my skin became a lot clearer. No more clogged pores at all! Can't say anything about the spots because I never had them in the first place... But I looove LilyLolo stuff!

Maybe you need to change your cleanser? This happened to me when I changed make up (not LilyLolo) - I started getting boil-like spots (lovely!) some which came to a head (even more lovely!) and some which just sat there all red and angry like they were harbouring a grudge. I use Cetaphil cleanser, which you can either wipe off or wash off, and my skin cleared up in about a week and has been fine since. Maybe your regular cleanser doesn't quite get everything off?

MrsSchadenfreude, that could make sense actually, I did notice on the second morning when I cleansed that I got a bit more foundation off.... I will have a break for a few days then try again with a different cleanser.

starfish2 - that is what I was hoping for

Hopefully that will solve your problem!
I was using a very light wash off gel cleanser before and it just didn't get all of the new slap off. Now I have a squeaky clean face every night and no spots. Well almost no spots, but it has made a huuuge difference to the spots.

If that still doesn't work, get your doc to prescribe Dalacin T lotion which will get rid of the boil-like spots. But I haven't needed it since I changed my cleanser.

Thanks MrsSchadenfreude, that is really helpful, I had not heard of Dalacin T before! I really hope this solves the problem as I love it in every other way!

Ooh, perhaps one of you can tell me how to get it on without making such a mess?

I love lily lolo products, no issues with spots either but then I am not spotty to begin with.
I second using a very good cleanser and a good oil free or light moisturiser underneath
one thing mineral makeup can do is absirb the oil on your skin, your skin can then think it is drying out and produce more oil, = more spots...
so use a good night cream to hydrate properly
thus endeth the sermon

Ahh, I didn't know that piffle thanks, I have quite dry skin anyway so I guess it wouldn't take much to send it over the edge into extra oil production.

Ok, new regime, take a few days off to get skin back into it's groove
Invest in good light moisturiser for preparing skin before make up.
Use good heavy-weight cleanser each day.
Apply night cream every night (I sometimes do ATM!)

Thanks everyone this has been really helpful!

FWIW I find the basic olay one an excellent moisturiser, but I have normal skin
