Sunburnt scalp

How can I avoid a sun burnt scalp this summer? I don’t really seem to suit hats (plus I never really see anyone else wearing a hat). I’ve tried putting sun cream on my parting but I still burnt and it made my hair look greasy. Is there anything else I can do? I’ve tried putting my hair back so that my parting isn’t exposed but it makes my hair look frizzy and I end up with a natural parting anyway. Any ideas please?

I see loads of people wearing straw hats or baseball caps. If you don't want to wear one, the only alternative is to stay out of the sun.

Calypso make a scalp protection spray that's pretty good, it's non greasy and dries quickly. That or a head scarf that covers your scalp.

I wear stretchy headbands that cover the top of my head when I'm on the beach, but really there's no magic solution if you don't want to stay put of the sun or wear a hat/SPF on your scalp!

Like a pp I see loaaaads of people wearing hats every summer - definitely loads of people abroad and more and more in the UK. I have a Panama type hat and a floppy sunhat that both fold up/roll up. The latter isn't a close weave so not that protective but better than nothing.

You could try a scalp spray or just a normal sunblock mist? Or one of the powder sunblocks on your parting? I think the Goop one and ColorScience are well-rated, but if I were you I'd just get into headscarves 😁

I have an enormous floppy hat with an SPF factor. I couldnt give two figs what anyone else wears. This protects my nose, cheeks, scalp and neck.

You either need to physically block the sun getting to your scalp with hat or scarf, or wear a sunblock on it.

Or don't go into the sun. The sun doesn't care what's fashionable.

I run regularly and a hat, or any head covering, makes me far too hot. I use the boots SPF scalp spray.

I might try to get the Primark spray mentioned in that article.

Parasols are popular in Asia. Umbrellas are more versatile and do the same job.
