Chrystal Hair Removers - Do They Work?

Lavendersquare · 12/06/2022 09:59

I keep seeing posts for Chrystal hair removers and I'm tempted to get one. I've never seen one in real life so I wanted to know if anyone has tried one and how they got on with it.

I assume you rub it over your legs, so does it hurt? Do you rub it on your skin dry or wet?

What are the results like?

TIA

This is the sort of thing I've seen advertised.

It looks like it's the same thing as a hair removal mitt that I can remember using years ago. You just rub gently round in little circles and it rubs off the hair. It's a lot of effort when a razor will do the job much more quickly.

How is this better than shaving?

How is this better than shaving?

It probably isn't but I find doing my legs properly in the shower a bit tricky so thought this might be a good alternative.

It's sandpaper

scarletisjustred · 12/06/2022 12:49

I tried a brand of emery mitts as a teenager. It had an exfoliating effect on the skin I have to say and not in a good way. It was also very slow. I ended up going sailing the next day with my newly sanded legs and when the salt water hit my legs they felt like they were on fire. Never again.

The only advantage I could see over shaving was that the hair tips were less bristly growing out.

I think they might work better if you don't have particularly hairy legs and have tougher skin.

I think they really only work for people with thin/weak hair and have nonsensitive skin. They never have worked for me - hair stays and the skin is removed. OUCH!

A Hamman glove or gloves works just as well and costs a pittance on ebay!

Newly sanded legs Grin

I used to use these as a teenager - it was more or less like shaving but they did leave my legs feeling nice and smooth for a few days as they had an exfoliating effect. Silky Mitt was what they were called back then. But even applying as much as moisturiser afterwards made my eyes water.

I definitely wouldn't pay as much as £20 for it OP.

Lavendersquare · 13/06/2022 16:33

Thanks for the comments, I'm not sure I'm ready to sand my legs so I think I'll stick to shaving.

Silky mitt reborn!

definitelybdint get sucked in to paying more that £5-10 - I saw one advertised for £50. Total nonsense.

alterbatively get some ver fine sandpaper and try that 🤣

Krustykrabpizza · 13/06/2022 16:37

I have one and yes it works and doesn't feel like sandpaper at all

MissStarry · 13/06/2022 20:28

Silky mitt lol brings back memories! I also used those as a teen - leaves it soft the first few times but not better than razors and agree the sting of products applied afterwards was like wearing chaps of fire 🔥
