Anyone had to give up botox due to the cost

I used to have botox twice a year but even at that had to stop because the cost was mounting up and I found out that it was only really lasting 4 months at most. There are lots of places that offer cheap botox but that's not something that I'm willing to do because I've heard horror stories.
Anyone else quit due to the cost and if so, are there other beauty treatments that you find good?

People rave about retinol. I've not used that or Botox myself but there is a woman on YouTube, Melissa55 who is in her 60s whose skin looks amazing.

Retinol all the way.

But my contribution to ageing well is lots of exercise. That works really effectively too! 😉

Retinol all the way.

Any recommendations?

wurzelgummidgefan · 10/06/2022 20:33

@pintsizedproblem I've seen a lot of people on here recommend The Ordinary brand retinol, it seems to be very popular

How long have you been having botox? You might get to six months, and longer, if you have it regularly.

Sensible not to go to one of those places where they'll do the botox for £120.00.

There's a very recent thread about alternatives to fillers and botox.

No

I just got shit loads of it in my face today
If I have to sell a kidney on the black market I'll keep going 😂

wurzelgummidgefan · 10/06/2022 21:52

@krill I've been getting it about 5 years, I may try to space it out to once a year. My only really prominent line Is my frown line

@TomAllenWife that made me laugh :)

How much are you paying for your sessions?

pintsizedproblem · 11/06/2022 07:19

I haven't been able to start it due to cost. My poor forehead and all its wrinkles are there for all to see. Will look at retinol though.

I see great results from using Skin & Me - it’s a subscription service where you can get prescription-only retinol. You fill in a questionnaire about your skin, send them some pics and a dermatologist prescribes you stuff and sends a tube through the post. Each month, the dose increases so you avoid too much sensitivity.

Loads of people here recommend it, and I really like what it’s done for my skin. It’s pretty cheap at £20 per month. I have a referral code for a free month (and - full disclosure - I get £10 off) if anyone wants it: NATALIEP8A4T

Fringe.

TheOGCCL · 11/06/2022 09:17

I went to one of the Therapie clinics you see advertised on Facebook, £120 for one area as only interested in 11s and it was fine. I think we’ll see the price come down over time as it, somewhat sadly, becomes normalised. I’ve been high end too. I wouldn’t go cheap if having loads of it though, eg eyes, forehead.

Agree, it’s not something I’m willing to compromise on 😂

@ShangPie I've heard good things about Skin+me, I am going to give it a try with your code
