Userss88 · 09/06/2022 18:36

Hi,

Are all the fitflop styles good for Plantar fasciitis or is it only certain ones?
Any other shoes brands really good, I'm in a lot of pain!

Thanks in advance

Hi, I find Birkenstock’s to really help with this. My PF has cleared right up. And, never go barefoot or wear flipflops/ballet flats.

fucketyfuckwit · 09/06/2022 18:39

Vionic are good but expensive and many are very ugly.
I love fit flops, but again, many are very ugly (in my opinion).

plantarfun · 09/06/2022 18:41

On the advice of a podiatrist, I no longer suffer after having worn an indoor pair of supportive trainers (Merrells) until the symptoms cleared up. I now wear old-syle crocs in the house instead of slippers.

plantarfun · 09/06/2022 18:42

The exercises of rolling a cyclinder under your foot also help and standing on the stairs with your heels overbalanced to stretch out the muscles.

BestIsWest · 09/06/2022 18:43

I have the Fitflop Rally trainers and the slippers. Cured mine completely. I never go barefoot.

PatchworkElmer · 09/06/2022 18:45

I got a pair of the fluffy (ugg style) boots in the Next sale. Wear them around the house as slippers. They have helped massively.

StationaryMagpie · 09/06/2022 18:47

i found birkenstocks much better than anything else for mine.

Gingerbreadcandle · 09/06/2022 18:48

I found the ones with the micro wobble sole the best for my PF. Some of the others are too flat. Fitflop as are the only shoes/ sandals I can wear without orthotics, I suffer from PF quite a bit.

Boomboomboomboom · 09/06/2022 18:55

Try Footactive sandals. I got mine from Amazon and they are so comfy and really help with PF. I also got the clog like slippers too so switch between the two.

bloodyunicorns · 09/06/2022 19:13

Try the Vionics website.

I love my Skechers arch support flip flops -£65

And yes to Birkies

LunaLoveFood · 09/06/2022 19:26

I've just bought some sketchers arch support shoes and they are fab. They have a huge range of sandles, shoes and trainers too.

GandTfortea · 09/06/2022 19:30

I spent a fortune on all sorts of shoes ,including Vionic’s .
i found vionic didn’t have enough of an arch for me ,and the ladies sizes didn’t go high enough.
so I bought some “walk fit “insoles ,just found by chance in Superdrug .they have a choice of 3 hights for the raised bit ..they are very hard ,and do take some getting used to ..so I bought some gel heel supports of Amazon and I place those on top of the walk fit insoles …perfect I can walk pain free .
only downside is I need to go up a size in trainers ,to accommodate the insoles and I need a high deep trainer as well ,due to insoles.
i ended up with fila trainers mens ..
but hay I can walk pain free ,so I’m not complaining
anyone who buys walk fit ,do persevere,it was painful at first ,but then suddenly my feet just took to them once I’d got the gel heel in as well

Fitflops are great for plantar fasciitis- I love their Rally trainers.

Sketchers made my PF worst!

Mumwithbaggage · 09/06/2022 19:32

Birkies didn't help mine at all - best thing for me was a pair of OOfohs. Cured mine completely - wore them all the time in the house, even when I went to the loo in the night!

A3285633 · 09/06/2022 19:33

Rally Trainers are very good

Dashie · 09/06/2022 19:34

Birkenstock Gizeh were good for my plantar fasciitis. I then tried Mayari, which made it worse again.
The best sandals I found were fit flop ones with a back strap, and a chunky sole with raised heel.

RoyKentsChestHair · 09/06/2022 19:37

I love my FitFlops and my PF has been much better since I bought them - they’re all fairly plain toe post type ones in various colours, so ideal for summer.

My XP used to massage my feet too, which helped enormously, so if you have a DP, get some Flexitol and set them to work!

In his absence I have to use “Robo-DP” which looks identical to this one although a different brand name, so I hope it’s the same one. Very firm pressure which works well for me.

Archies fit flops

Wallywobbles · 09/06/2022 20:31

Vionics are good. Decathlon do a good one too. Think it might be green.

Allthegoodusernamesareused · 09/06/2022 20:51

I'm so glad I've seen this thread tonight, I've self diagnosed myself with PF (thank you Dr Google) after weeks of sore heels - some mornings I can barely weight bear for the first few minutes when I get out of bed.

I haven't sought any medical help yet - is it a podiatrist I need, or a physio? Will my GP refer me, or will I have to go private (really can't afford that right now).

Cherrysherbet · 09/06/2022 20:59

Sketchers arch fit were a game changer for me. Their walking boots are so supportive, and I can walk for miles in them.

I wear sketchers with an arch support insole around the house.
I wear their sandals too. They are really comfy. They’re not great looking, but I’ve no choice anymore.
If I go bare foot, or wear flat shoes I’m in agony.

PF is a killer!

Userss88 · 09/06/2022 21:07

Thank you for all the advice.

So I self diagnosed, this has been going on for a while on and off but after 4 weeks of pain I decided to visit the GP. They pretty much confirmed what I had read online and gave me advice regarding changing my foot wear.

I really dislike wearing trainers or closed shoes when the weather is warmer so ideally need to find sandals first.

I have Birkenstocks in the past but they actually made my feet worse. But is it certain styles?

Would the fitflop lulu toe posts be suitable or do I need a back strap now?

Birkenstocks and fitflops do not have enough arch support for me. I wear oofos. Those and arch supports in all my shoes has cleared up my PF completely.

TooManyPJs · 09/06/2022 21:14

I'm fine with toe posts. The key thing for me is the right arch support.

save yourself some money (podiatrist is best but) for now, use a roller ball under your foot, get some gel inserts/add those feet out, wear trainers around the house and give yourself 2 weeks and you will notice a huge difference. Wear shoes, dont go barefoot in the house
also dont leap out of bed, gently stretch (which we should all do anyhow)!

if no improvement see a podiatrist!
