On Saturday at last I was professionally fitted for a decent bra.

I went to Bravissimo in Oxford they were fantastic. Called in the morning they do appt at weekend as it is so busy. Went back an hour later and had my fitting.

The fitter was really professional no need to feel embarrased, I had my dd3 in tow but we were made really welcome.

Even thought the shop was heaving every member of staff was cheerful helpful and really seemed to enjoy what they were doing deffo recommend this company.

They do not measure with tape just look like R and P however they only fit bras D cup and and above.

My old bras 34d and 36c are now binned my correct size is now 32e!

Ladies if you have not had a proper bra fitting before I urge you to try it out all my wobbly bits disappeared when wearing a correct size bra and I now know what one should look like. Tis a pity I can,t get this sort of effect with my other clothes ie jeans and tops then I wouldn,t be so bothered by my extra weight .

Am deffo going to use them for swim wear this year.

Lucky you !

Cant wait to throw... no burn ... all my bras ( currently BF LO so you can imaging the state of my underwear )

I am soo envious of you, you sexy thing

I went to La Senza ages ago, and found that they did 't measure but just looked.
I bought some underwear but later found that they fitted badly and weren't correct. So didn't wear them

I remember going many years ago to a department store House of Fraser and got measured with the tape measure by a mature assistant and it was spot on.

I am not really sure how they can tell if they don't measure you, as I came out of La Senza not feeling any better.

Ah - another convert to Bravissimo. Some of us Mnetters have been singing their praises for ages so it's great when another person discovers them! Before I went to Bravissimo, other fitters were trying to give me 38-40 E - I'm actually a 34H.

HolidaysQueen · 14/01/2008 11:45

I LOVE Bravissimo and am always so pleased when other people discover them!!! I'm 29 weeks pregnant and the lovely lady in my local store checks me out every few weeks when I think I've got bigger to see whether I need new bras. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't and they don't mind at all if I don't buy. I'm definitely going only there for my nursing bras.

firstmum - Their swimwear is fab - the bikinis I got from there were the first bikinis I've ever had where I didn't feel my boobs (34H pre-pregnancy!) weren't saggy. And I love the fact that I can buy gorgeous, glamorous non-granny bra bras from them even though I have massive boobs which even M&S won't go near.

S101 - IME I don't think La Senza staff are anywhere near as well-trained as Bravissimo/Rigby & Peller. Some Bravissimo people will measure rather than sight-fit if they aren't as experienced or aren't certain from looking at you, and even if they sight-fit they will spend enough time with you trying on different bras to know if they need to actually move you up or down a size. Plus they really know the bras they sell, so know if one make comes up a bit smaller in the cup size etc. So very often they end up selling me one in a slightly different cup size to normal because it is actually a better fit.

I won't buy bras from anyone else now (and am very thankful that I live only a 15 min walk from one of their shops!)

HolidaysQueen yes I agree you make a valid point to remember even when you have found the perfect fit in a bra.

The lady at Bravissimo said that different brands can differ with their cup sizing so always best to try on. She also said that sometimes even the same brand but a different style can make a difference in your cup size.

Totally agree with all this - first went to Bravissimo (the Oxford one too) a couple of years ago, and it's made such a difference. They are fab. I learned on my latest visit that they aren't allowed to say the word 'breasts' - I said 'I hate having pointy breasts' (you know how some bras do that to you), and the lady serving me said, in a slightly shocked, but also slightly amused tone, 'Oh, we aren't allowed to say that word'.

PigeonPie · 14/01/2008 12:36

Jackie what do they call 'breasts' then?

I usually use JL in Milton Keynes, but having seen all these recommendations for Bravissimo in Oxford I'll try them once I've had DC2 in a few weeks time. I just know I'm going to need new feeding bras.

lulalullabye · 14/01/2008 12:40

I did exactly the same with rigby and peller. Now I have a panic attack if anyone suggests buying bras feom anywhere else. but ... you do need a second mortgage

HolidaysQueen · 14/01/2008 13:21

Lula - it was the second mortgage aspect that switched me from R&P to Bravissimo! Every bit as good IMHO.

Pigeonpie - my lady at Bravissimo just calls them boobs!
