Metronidazole - nervous!

So I've finally finished breastfeeding which means I can tackle my rosacea with Skin & Me (they told me to wait to change my formulation). I've been given a 1% dose of this alongside Azelaic Acid and Niacinimide (sp?). I'm a bit freaked out that this is an antibiotic that I'll be taking for 3 months..are there any side effects or problems with taking an antibiotic cream for so long? And I've read that I should avoid alcohol, is there anything else I should avoid? I was so looking forward to some drinking after 2 babies and a year of breastfeeding haha!

Don't just avoid 'alcohol' in terms of beer/wine/spirits - avoid Kombucha, zero/low alcohol, foods and sauces that say 'wine', 'rice wine', 'sake', 'mirin', 'beer batter' (as they may still have traces if not more - boiling a dish with alcohol doesn't get rid of it, despite what some people claim), Vanilla and almond extract, vinegars, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, a lot of fizzy soft drinks, tiramisu, Rescue Remedy, and make sure your mouthwash states alcohol free.

If you don't, you will feel horrendous.

I didn't need to take oral Metronidazole for as long (different condition) but whilst I stuck to the rules rigidly and felt fine - despite being one of those people who are generally either chucking my guts up or outright allergic to antibiotics - somebody else I knew later on ignored all but drinking beer/wine/spirits and constantly complained of how terribly ill he was.

Like I said, though - by avoiding all of those things, I didn't have a single side effect. So it was worth it.

Thanks, eeek! Just to be clear though, it is the cream I'll be using, so probably no different to oral but I'm hoping it's slightly less..potent?

Have you tried Soolantra? I still in shock at how quickly it cured my rosacea, metronidazole didnt do much sadly.

@Ohsugarhoneyicetea I might try that if this doesn't work - I just think it's expensive isn't it? So worth trying the cheaper option first I guess!
