One repeat salon treatment

If you had to pick only one "repeat" beauty treatment, what would it be that makes the biggest difference for you?

I'm making a conscious effort to treat myself a bit more and not fall into the slump of putting DC first and feeling shit how I look / feel. But also can't be spending money on everything.

So what would it be?

  • regular mani/pedi?
  • hair extensions?
  • lash extensions?
  • tanning?

Gel pedicure for me. My fingernails are a lost cause though.

Eyebrow tinting.
I have very few now due to peri menopause.

I used to have Shellac ties in the summer. It made me feel good. Must start that again.

Eyebrow threading for me.

Another vote for gel pedicure as it's something I can't do nicely myself (like PP fingernails are a lost cause). I live in Birkenstocks for about 8 months of the year so having nice toes really makes a difference. I'm pretty low maintenance so it's the only thing I pay for apart from getting my hair cut/coloured regularly.

I think hair extensions generally look like extensions and are expensive and also damaging to your own hair. Ditto lash extensions. As for tanning, try one of the daily gradual tanners like Dove or Garnier body lotions - they are surprisingly good.

This is just my opinion of course - not judging anyone who does do all of the above!

KangarooKenny · 06/06/2022 10:43

I use the Dove gradual tanner. Looks very natural.

Roseglen84 · 06/06/2022 10:51

Do we have to pick from that list? If so, it would be tanning, because I can never seem to get it right on my legs. The other's I wouldn't bother with.

What about getting your hair done regularly? it always makes me feel better when mine is freshly cut/ coloured.

As for salon treatments generally, the only ones I would actually spend money on would be laser treatments etc. for skin but they are expensive. Also getting a massage regularly would be lovely.

For me it is a good cut/colour and regular waxing, but these are not on your list. I wouldn’t have lash extensions on a regular basis, perhaps for a special occasion. I am going to try a lash tint/lift this week which may well be a new regular treatment if I like it.

Haircut. It's pretty much the only thing that I have someone else do for me.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 06/06/2022 12:19

None that are on your list. I have my hair cut and coloured regularly, and if I can find the time I have a Guinot facial.

indoorplantqueen · 06/06/2022 12:27

Gel nails

MandaLynn · 06/06/2022 12:43

I do get semi-regular haircut/colour, but my hair's quite fine and slow growing - hence I'm tempted by extensions to add some volume and shape. So guess I'm combining hair care together in that one.

If I could know what facials would actually have an effect for me, id probably go for that. But there are so many options now I don't which are actually worth it

Not from your list but my one repeat would be getting my eyebrows done. I'm not very good at it... at all. I didn't realise what a difference it made until my first appointment post lockdown. I looked instantly less tired.

After that it's a facial every 6 weeks (I'd go more often if I could afford it). There's something about having someone else clean and pamper your skin. It's just good for the soul. Or good for my soul at least.
