Do you prefer tinted moisturiser or foundation - mature skin

I am now 60 and wear foundation but sometimes wonder if I'd look better with a tinted moisturiser or BB cream or would it not be enough coverage?

I wear a really good coverage around my eyes and then mix number 7 glow drops in to a normal coverage foundation for the rest of my face. That works for me as my eye lids are quite red and my undereyes are dark!

A tinted foundation would look invisible on me. You can go too natural!

There are loads of foundations that are really light.
I'm around your age (older) and find a tinted moisturiser isn't enough.

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation is very light (it's water based) and so is Boots Hydralumnious. You might like Clinique Even Bettter.

I also use Bobbi Brown full concealer under my eyes (in a tube with a sponge applicator.)

CC cream. I use Chanel.

I use CC cream too. Max Factor

100% recommend perfecting skin tint from Glossier. It’s very sheer and dewy so looks lovely and glowy on the skin. It doesn’t give much coverage though but if you have ok skin it will take it to a new level.

I use Clinique Even Better Glow with Beauty Pie tinted illuminating primer underneath. I used to love the Becca glow primer but sadly that’s discontinued.

I’ve tried tinted moisturiser before but wasn’t keen on the texture it seemed to give my skin. I’m late 40s and my skin is pretty good but I need decent coverage as it’s fairly uneven in tone.

What are the glow drops like? I was looking at those recently but didn’t want to shell out without knowing how good they are.

Is the Clinique foundation very expensive?

£28.50 from Boots. I find a bottle lasts me a few months and I use it every day.

I've used BB cream for years but now find I'd like more coverage. Every foundation I've tried makes my dry skin worse (flaky patches) and often brings me out in spots so I'm watching this with interest!

Noisyprat · 07/06/2022 08:15

Mid 50’s and I use Garnier BB cream everyday, I’ve got quite clear skin and get a nice but very light coverage. I need to get a new foundation but in the meantime I have an old pot of EL Double wear that I mix with the Garnier BB cream to get a bit more coverage.

DurhamDurham · 07/06/2022 08:22

I use BB cream, much more flattering for my 51 year old skin. I loved foundation when I was younger and swapped to BB cream in my 40's.

ApolloandDaphne · 07/06/2022 08:29

I am 59 and I use Clarins BB cream. It covers well I think and looks natural.

Lilifer · 07/06/2022 08:33

Could someone tell me please what is BB cream and what is CC cream, I'm still stuck in the foundation and tinted moisturiser era 😣

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 07/06/2022 08:44

I have always just used a light foundation and am using less of it as I get older. Full foundation is ageing on me. Less is definitely more at this age!

KirstenBlest · 07/06/2022 10:36

@Lilifer , You might have heard about cc creams, which came around after bb creams and share a similar name, but don't mistake them for the same thing. They're very different! CC cream stands for "color correcting" cream or complexion corrector cream. These are thicker, heavier formulas than the light, airy bb creams. They are intended to fully hide dark spots or redness and neutralize the appearance of imperfections, but don't give all the many skin-loving benefits that bb creams do. They're best for true color correcting skin issues, and are not a replacement for bb cream, foundations or tinted moisturizer! So for summer, stick with bb!

@KirstenBlest thanks so much for that info, I have only ever used either foundation or tinted moisturiser. Should I try BB cream? I'm 52 with fairly good skin, would prefer less wrinkles but overall my skin is good. I love Laura Mercier Bobbi Brown and Clinique for foundations etc what would you recommend?

I went in to a department store recently just to look for some blusher and eyeshadows and nearly ran out again as the amount of new products and creams and things was overwhelming, there's too much Choice out there now that I can't even begin to start working out what to buy, I really find it exhausting plus all the assistants were too busy with other customers to answer any questions

KirstenBlest · 07/06/2022 13:34

I use foundation but find it too much on my wrinkly face, BB is ok but I need concealer too with it, so find CC better for me.
I have tried Garnier, Essence, and Rimmel BB, and Bourjois and No 7 CC.

Foundation-wise I usually use Rimmel or Boots No 7 but previously used Bourjois
