Is wearing black trainers in summer a no-no?

I walk a lot in muddy areas- Central London, no car- and take the tube a lot. Have this super comfy pair of black Puma trainers which don't show the dirt. Also rarely wear pretty dresses; mostly wear trousers.

Or are there any alternatives to gleaming white trainers ( which would soon be a dirty brown in my case). Silver? Grey?

Converse can be put in the washing machine?

I don't think it is an automatic no, it would depend on the colour of the outfit. If you are wearing a white/pale/pastel dress then black shoes will look out of place. But if your outfit is jeans/dark/saturated shades then I think you can get away with black shoes.

I recently bought white Reebox which are leather so will hopefully be able to clean down easier than a fabric trainer.

to be honest, they are just not my cup of tea at all, I don't really think there's value in me critiquing them as they are so far out of my taste, even if objectively they are fine.

I have some black Nikes I got before lockdown (with a white swoosh which breaks up the black a bit) which I am still wearing and there's not a lot they don't go with and they are soooo comfy.

I wear black trainers in the summer, in the spring, in the autumn and in the winter as they are the only black trainers I have. I'm just about to put them on now to go shopping in the South of France.

You can wear what you want when you want and you don't have to buy new trainers to satisfy some fashion critic that may never even critique you.

:) White trainers remind me of school PE. Which was not a pleasant experience.

I have black superga, I wear them loads with dark jeans or dark dresses/skirts and they look great, get lots of positive comments about them.

I find them more practical than white for the time of year when boots are too heavy but it isn't quite nice enough for white trainers or sandals, for wet weather, or with dark clothes. They don't show the dirt either.

I am tempted to get another dark colour for autumn, maybe navy, grey or khaki.
