What spray-in are folks using for straight blowdries ?

The hairdresser uses a £££ spray-in product and gets my hair poker straight, shiny and with the blunt swingy ends (I have a one length bob to the bottom of my neck)

Can anybody recommend anything from the High Street, or Amazon, that will do somewhere near the same thing ? I have some styling crème but it’s a bit crap. So is my blow drying technique, tbh.

Your hair dresser does it better cos they're trained to do blow drys, done thousands of them and have a decent hair dryer. No amount of product will replicate that.

Ahlola · 28/05/2022 22:45

Have you tried a revlon one step?

AnyFucker · 28/05/2022 22:48

I know. That’s why, despite being tempted, I didn’t blow the budget and buy the product from the salon

Have you tried a revlon one step?

Yes, I have one thanks. I can do a decent job with it but can’t get that precise, silky finish.

My blow dry technique leaves a lot to be desired. But I find I get better results when I use a swchazkopf (sp?) heat protection spray. It was only a cheapo one from Tescos but it really makes a difference.

It’s this one

My hairdresser uses the wow product. I bought it from Amazon as it was £6 cheaper. I find it good BUT I have a short pixie cut not a blunt Bob. On the other hand though I also have bastard hair which will never do as it's told. EVER.

linenalltheway · 29/05/2022 08:49

What is the hairdressers for product?

BrandNewBicep · 29/05/2022 10:53

I realise this may not be as cheap as you want, but having tried loads of inexpensive products, the only one I like is Redken One United. Can get it cheaper at Look Fantastic etc.

Jofergo · 29/05/2022 10:57

Buy a good hairdryer.

Ask your hairdresser if they can give you a blow dry lesson. Mine did and it was great to get some pointers.

She still gets much better results than I do though!

I have a parlux alyon (which is the same as my hairdressers).

What kind of hair do you have? I have thick curly hair I keep straight so what I do/use might not work for you.

I'd agree that a lot of it is about technique and in the end I invested in a dyson airwrap as the straight brush gets my hair to the same point as my hairdresser does before using straighteners. (I was using a Parlux before but my hair was getting really dried out)

I also use a conditioner with lanolin in, American cream, Lush, my curly hair needs the additional moisture and weight. I have used WOW and many others Lush super milk spray is also great. I think it's mainly about the overall process rather than just the hair primer.

At this point I have to mention I dislike Lush policies so I'm trying to find alternatives.

I have hair that is thinning (post menopausal). Nobody notices but I do, have lost about a third of it’s volume but thankfully diffusely so no bald patches or male pattern baldness. Lots of grey with blonde baby lights throughout.

If I leave it to dry naturally, it is wavy but not in a good way. It can be dried straight without using straighteners. If I use too much product it goes lank and looks thinner.

I wish it could look every day like my hairdresser does it.

I recently bought John Frieda Frizz ease 3 day straight in a 3 for 2 deal. It's been a revelation in helping to blow dry my hair straight.

I use Redken One United too but it doesn’t make my hair straight - I have a natural wave and also a kink in one side, so I still have to straighten after blow drying and then use a shine spray (Lee Harris or GHD) to get it silky and straight.

AnyFucker · 29/05/2022 20:55

I have the Revlon One Step and use Revlon UniqOne leave in 10 in 1 conditioner/heat resistance/detangler

It has similar reviews to the Redken One United

I'm 50 post menopause and there are 3 things that have helped my hair condition.

The dyson airwrap, HRT and not having colour anymore.

eatthecheesecake · 31/05/2022 08:14

Hey op, Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil Primer is good at smoothing without weighing hair down. I have very fine, fluffy, wavy but not in a good way hair. Spray it in the ends, and get a volumising spray for the roots. GHD have a good one.
Use your One Step and make sure before letting go of a section you cool shot it.

After that use a texturizing spray. I couldn't get my hair to look decent without one.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 31/05/2022 08:20

Redken Frizz Dismiss rebel tame cream is AMAZING, huge tube, have a Google as you can get it really cheaply on line.

You need a decent hairdryer,it really makes a huge difference plus a good brush. I swear by Parlux. A narrow concentrator nozzle really helps.

AnyFucker · 31/05/2022 16:35

Thanks all 👍

Colour Wow Dream Coat is amazing. It needs the heat from your dryer or straightners to work, but gives that total frizz free sleekness you're after. I love it!
