Are Parlux hair dryers worth it.

I have long hair which is quite fine but I have lots of it and it also takes ages to dry with a hairdryer.
My current one is about to give up the ghost and I'm considering a Parlux. Are they worth it?

My current one is ok, think it's a Panasonic but I really don't want to get another cheaper priced one and find it's rubbish.

Does anyone have any recommendations if not Parlux.

Just to add, I'm not getting a Dyson or anything in that price bracket. I'm looking at max £80.

I have the lightweight one and bought after they were raved about on here, compared to the £30 one I had before it's quicker yes but even the power light one is heavy and it's loud. I was bought the stain one as a gift and that is much much better.

Saying that both are used daily and are still one immaculate condition 5 years later. Dd (17) has my Parlux and much prefers that and thinks the Dyson makes her feel dry and brittle and she has a point. Her hair is thicker than mine though.

Not helpful I know.

I’ve got parlux and Dyson. The dyson is good on days I want to spend longer and less heat. The parlux is brilliant for a quick dry time, I have the same hair type and it’s really good.

Same as PP, have a parlux and a dyson. I prefer the dyson now but it sat unused for a few years as I favoured the parlux. The parlux is good if you need quick but I do think it's more damaging to hair and it's definitely heavy.

Parlux has lasted around 10 years so far but I'm not a frequent user.

I use mine every other day and it’s been going probably 10 years now. Not sure if they still come in all different colours, choosing was tough!

I have neither fine nor thick hair and it dries it really fast, no more than 5-6 minutes.

I’ve had mine for about 10 years and I’m not careful with it! I love it & it dries fast. Not noticed any heaviness, it’s just a decent, hard wearing power horse.

Yes. I bought one 31 years ago now and it's still going strong. I use it every day. My DC use it a few times a week.

I have a Parlux in Icey Blue and I love it. I've never spent anything like as much on a hairdryer before and traded up from an old (15 yr old) Toni and Guy hairdryer. I tried a parlux and a GHD and wanted to love the GHD but the parlux gave me smoother hair and a quicker dry. It was the smoother hair that swung it as I have a lot of quite coarse, strong and flyaway hair and the parlux gives me a nice smooth dry without much effort.

I bloody love mine. I've had it about 12 years and it's still going strong. It dries my hair so much more quickly than anything else!

Tinkletwat · 28/05/2022 18:23

You're paying for the build quality, I'm on my second, first lasted for about 8 years with daily use. Before then I was replacing them annually. Would be unlikely to buy anything else.

Fancyateapottea · 28/05/2022 19:47

I have the parlux Alyon and think it’s great. I don’t find it too heavy and it really prevents frizz and flyaways for me. I mean it doesn’t completely get rid of them but there’s a definite improvement!

TeaChocKitKat · 28/05/2022 20:11

I have the parlux compact and I love it. Ive had it for about 12 years and I use it daily. It's still going strong.

Well I bought the Parlux 3200 and dried my hair in 6 minutes this morning.

Very happy with my purchase.

I've never had a hairdryer break regardless of what price bracket they were in, they've all lasted before I've moved on to a better one as technology has improved etc, I keep them as spares, to take on short breaks etc if needed.

I did get a Dyson as a gift last christmas and I think it's incredibly overrated for what it cost. I did love how quiet it is and obviously it looks nice but it was absolutely no quicker to dry my hair than my existing dryer (babyliss 3q which I''ve had years and got in the sale for about £60), the dyson knotted my hair up and left it flat. I keep meaning to try and sell it somehow.

I'd try a Parlux next if the Babyliss 3q broke but as before, they rarely seem to.

My regular Parlux recently died after about 8 years, so I replaced it with the Parlux Alyon. I loved the old one, but this is even better - smoother results faster, not as hot & lighter weight.
