Urban walking in high temps: how not to look like a scout master??

So I live in a French city. DH and I like to go for long-ish walks (riverside, woods, built up, historic areas). Usually I wear jeans and nice walking shoes and that’s fine. But it’s summer, way too hot for full length trousers, and I’m struggling to find an alternative.

i am tall, broad shoulders and back, big boobs. Then I taper downwards to skinny legs, ankles, feet. It’s so difficult to find anything short: anything that fits over my (now fairly broad) hips looks huge further down with my skinny legs sticking out the bottom. As a pair of sensible walking shoes and it’s 100% scout master: this is not stylish in what is a very stylish city!

Any ideas for cropped / shorts lengths and styles that would suit my body shape and need to wear sensible walking shoes?

I'd wear denim shorts but that might be too hot?
Just bought these walking sandals & the thinner straps make them a bit better looking than normal walking sandals:

Omg @APurpleSquirrel thanks for the link - I'm literally setting off tomorrow on a European city trip and I've been looking for shoes like this for years! I've called my local trespass and reserved a pair ro collect as we set off!!

OP thanks for starting this thread. I called in to Trespass this morning and the sandals were only £24. So far so good, I'm expecting to walk a good few pavement miles over the next few days, and I WON'T FEEL LIKE A SCOUTMASTER. I've painted my toenails and re-packed my case with a couple less 'practical shorts combos' and a couple more 'dressier and feminine but comfortable' options.

If they're as good as they feel now I'll be buying another pair on the way back.
