Anyone tried/heard of Sloafer shoes?

Sloafer shoes keep popping up on my Instagram feed. They are by Flat but with a trainer type soul. I have plantar fasciitis so I need something really comfortable and the sound like they might be appropriate BUT they are expensive so I’m a bit wary of ordering them without a recommendation. Has anyone tried them?

Sloafer

£159 for ballet pumps Shock

dumdumduuuummmmm · 23/05/2022 20:39

Looking at the website, I think they are pretty unattractive. None of the simplistic chic of a classic ballet pump. They look like Frankenstein pumps. Bits of different shoes put together resulting in something quite ugly. Sorry

bellac11 · 23/05/2022 20:44

I think they're really nice

Have you got specialist insoles OP, you can buy them online to help with things like that

Although I find the make my shoes a bit small, I have to get shoes that I can take the footbed out of in order to fit them in

I have PF too.

I live in Vionics currently with my podiatrist's approval. They have the built in arch support that I need at the moment and some of the styles are actually not bad!

WhoopItUp · 23/05/2022 22:25

@LadyPoison I’ll check out Vionics thanks. I do have custom made orthotics that I have worn faithfully for long periods of time but I’ve never found them to help. In fact, I find them really uncomfortable.

@dumdumduuuummmmm I wasn’t actually asking about their attractiveness, that’s subjective. It was more about their comfort. Genuine ballet pumps may look chic but they don’t offer any support for crappy feet like mine! I’m sick of wearing trainers all the time and not having anything else slightly smarter for work (and I’m on my feet for long stretches).

@WhoopItUp

I find my custom ones really hard. Vionics have a softer top layer which I find much more comfortable and the slippers are bliss.

My podiatrist has also suggested that I take out the insole of an ordinary pair of shoes and put it on top of the orthotics rather than having the orthotics insert on top. That really helps me too.

dumdumduuuummmmm · 24/05/2022 17:02

If you aren't concerned with the look and just need good support then go with more of a support shoe. Not a ballet pump/trainer hybrid

WhoopItUp · 24/05/2022 21:53

@dumdumduuuummmmm
I didn’t say that I don’t care how they look. However, in my OP I wasn’t asking for anyone’s opinion about their attractiveness (or their price for that matter) - I can judge that myself. I was asking if anyone had any experience of them. This wasn’t supposed to be a thread about aesthetics. There’s no point in me asking others what they think of their look because all that matters is what I think of them. I quite like them and just wanted to know what they’re like to wear.

OP, I have a pair I bought from last year and just received my 2nd pair yesterday (the leopard print with red trim). I really like them, I also have my eye on the navy glitter ones when they come in stock. I'm a fan of ballet flats but have a really skinny foot and can never, ever find any with a decent sole that my foot doesn't wobble about in.

I'd say my Sloafers are average width but the more sturdy sole makes the wearable for me as they have more structure. I've had my first pair (Darceys) since August last year, they need a bit of leather cream from time to time to keep the colour but they are still looking good. They aren't comfortable in the way that a pair of something like trainers might be, but they're comfortable enough that I can wear them all day with no problem and my feet feel fine.

I think you could return them if they weren't right for you. I'd say worth a try?

WhoopItUp · 25/05/2022 13:08

@Piccalino3 Thanks so much for replying, this is really useful. I think I’ll order a pair and see how they are. Good tip on the leather cream too!

Weird shoes , I hate ballet pumps but these are started with a trainer bottom
I buy insoles from Amazon and put them in all my shoes ! Really helps my PF!

I’ve tried loads of insoles and have orthotics. None of them makes a difference.

These are the ones I use . They are really uncomfortable to start with but they stuck right up into your arch and def have made my feet less painful!

WhoopItUp · 13/09/2022 10:43

@fucketyfuckwit
I’ve just ordered some! I wasn’t sure about sizing so I’m hoping they fit…. I’ll report back when they arrive. Have you ordered any?

@WhoopItUp

If you are in the Northern part of the country I can recommend Andrew Stanley for inserts. He is based in Settle in Yorkshire .
We have travelled ( overnighters to have appointments with him )

fucketyfuckwit · 13/09/2022 16:40

@WhoopItUp I want to order some today but want to see if I can find a voucher code! They look like like my dream shoe, I hope they turn out to be in reality.
