Droopy eye

One of my eyes has suddenly developed a droop. It's not noticeable in the mirror but looks awful in photos so I assume it also looks awful in real life (no one in my family will be honest enough with me about it!)

Is there anything I can do to fix it? Has anyone experienced similar and had it sorted?

Thank you, it's really getting me down.

Speak to your GP first and foremost - a sudden change like this needs to be checked out medically.

Please please go to your GP asap.

I don't want to panic you, but a droopy eye can be the first sign of Myasthenia. Hopefully not but it isn't a well known condition and the first doctor my Mum saw didn't recognise it. Thankfully hers was picked up quickly by another doctor and it didn't progress beyond the eye.

Once you’ve ruled out a medical cause, try Botox. There’s a genetic droopy right eyelid in my family (thank you, mother) that I realised disappears when I have my Botox injections. A happy accident!

Thank you. I'll book an appointment with my GP.

Hi @ShirleyJackson i have the same genetic droopy right eye, v annoying. I’m considering Botox for my perma-frown, it would be a major bonus if it sorted the eye too - but where did you have it injected? I was a bit worried that it would actually make the drooping worse

Three areas - forehead and crows’ feet on both sides. It was an unexpected bonus!
