I need a really good hair serum

So I’ve just used colour B4 and it didn’t do anything other than make my hair a bit warmer toned! And it’s quite dry looking.

I usually use a heat protection serum before blow drying my hair, Boots use to do one that was brilliant but it’s long been discontinued. I’ve since tried John Frieda, a Moroccan oil one & a cheapo one from home bargains, all of which have failed to impress me.

I need something that will make my hair look, well like hair! I’m cutting down on the straighteners. Any really good hair serums that disguise dry ends?

Try switching to a moisturising shampoo and conditioner if your hairs dry. I haven't used this for use (forgot it existed) buy always worked well when I had long hair www.boots.com/loreal-elvive-extraordinary-oil-100ml-10140048

I think L'Oréal Mythic oil is amazing, you can buy it on Amazon.
When I was bleaching my hair platinum it was the only thing that made it feel like hair.
The Mythic Oil mask is good too

Ouai hair oil is fantastic.

You need a good deep conditioner rather than a serum.

I use a deep conditioner that I leave in for 30 minutes every week. At the moment I'm using a John Fredia frizz ease one but also use the OGX coconut one. I also use John Frida heat protection spray and I have an OGX oil spray I use sparingly on the ends.

L'Oréal mythic oil

L'Oréal extraordinary oil

L'Oréal frizz killer oil

I've been using moroccan oil for years. You put it on and your hair feels softer and shinier, yet after years of use, the hair underneath remained dry and frizzy.

I always knew that the oil % was very low and most of it was silicone, but what I didn't realise is that silicone builds up and prevents the moisturising agents from your other products working.

I've ditched the serums and started using leave in conditioners. Cantu, Garnier honey, Asiam. They're silicone free and have a high vegetable oil percentage. I've also started brushing more often with a boar brush. The condition of my hair has improved

Thanks everyone, lots to looks at.

I’ve been using Pantene Grow Strong Shampoo & Conditioner for a while now & I really like it as it did reduce hair fall, but suspect it could be why the Colour B4 didn’t work as well as it should have.

I think you’re right CorneliaStreet42 - I need a good moisturising shampoo & conditioner. I have used Herbal Essences before for coloured hair so I may try that again or the L’Oréal Elvive ones.

Wella Luxe oil, it’s an older range so it’s quite cheap now you can get it on eBay and Amazon. The smell is gorgeous and they do a range of shampoo and conditioners so so good for your hair, I really rate them. (Hair dresser) I prefer them over olaplex

Frizz Dismiss by Redken is also excellent at getting hair to behave itself.

Phyllis321 · 23/05/2022 12:36

The Incredible Oil is lovely.
I would also experiment with co-washing, at least some of the time. Has made a big difference to my hair.

Phyllis321 · 23/05/2022 12:37

I mean Extraordinary oil!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Baby oil used sparingly before blowdrying.
