Being peri menopausal I’m finding I sweat a lot, I’m getting arm pit wet patches on my uniform and it’s embarrassing. Has anyone had Botox in the arm pits, did it work and about how much did it cost ?

No but I can recommend this www.amazon.co.uk/Odaban-Antiperspirant-Deodorant-Complete-1-Pack/dp/B001O1M6II

It's a bit faff to use, you apply it before you go to bed and have to wash it off first thing, but you only need to use it about once a week and it literally stops you sweating completely.

I had it on the NHS for hyperhidrosis and it was excellent, however... it lasted for less than a year, and you can only have it via NHS the one time. I cannot afford to have it privately so I can't say how well it works with repeated sessions. But I would highly recommend if it's within your budget!

I’ve got sweat patches on my uniform before I even leave the house. It’s embarrassing. I’ve been using Mitchum gel deodorant with a spray over the top and I still sweat.
I’ll try the Odaban first. Thanks.

I’ve recently been suffering with the same issue and no matter how much I wash my armpits smell after a few hours.

On Sunday I used my husbands deodorant and omg sweat and smell completely gone.

I now smell like a man at work but I’m styling it out.

KangarooKenny · 19/05/2022 08:04

I wonder if they do non-fragranced men’s deodorant then ? I’m off to find out !

Have you spoken to your Dr about HRT? I wish I'd gone on it sooner, during the last phases of peri.

CorpusCallosum · 19/05/2022 08:52

Odaban is brilliant, I used to get it on prescription due to hyperhydrosis but now it's on Amazon 🙌 I've used it for years and only need it about once a month now so it lasts aaaaages, seriously one bottle can last 2 years. Use it daily till sweating is under control then reduce. It can irritate the skin so when I first started I sprayed it on a cotton wool pad and wiped it on, you get better coverage and can avoid any tender parts. Just washing it off in the shower in the morning is fine.

I have had it and it is the best investment for me. I don't even sweat when I am exercising, and I don't sweat anywhere else either. It lasts for a bout a year for me and it costs £300 with one doctor and with another dentist it costs £500. I'm in London. It is honestly the best thing ever, I don't know why I didn't do it before.

No, I’m not going on HRT for sweating.

Try Driclor. Sounds a bit like Odaban. A roll on anti-perspirant which you use once or twice a week on underarms.Though not so useful if you swear elsewhere. Easy and really effective.

maddy68 · 19/05/2022 12:08

My brother had it. It changed his life

KangarooKenny · 19/05/2022 21:18

I’ve bought some Perspirex as that’s what my chemist had. Feeling a little bit stingy at the moment, but I’m sticking with it.

I had it when I was about 20, it’s the best thing I ever did. I didn’t need to go back for more (I think my hormones sorted themselves out), but it changed my life to not have to worry all the time about what I could and couldn’t wear etc. just do it!

JamesMartinsWaistcoat · 19/05/2022 21:29

Which one is it please @HiDeDi ?

HiDeDi · 20/05/2022 22:41

@JamesMartinsWaistcoat it’s mens mitchum stick. First time in months I’ve been able to get through the day without damp patches.

So yesterday I went for a walk and my arm pits felt ‘warm’ so I expected to be sweaty, no. Dry as a bone. I shall start putting this on two nights a week now.

I've had it twice, lasted about 9 months first time and over a year the second. It is expensive and I can't afford it now, that's interesting the NHS only cover one course. I've used deodorants like driclor but longer use redness and the stinging sensation getting worse, but I do have sensitive skin. Now I use the dove cream deodorant at night 2 or 3 times a week and it does the job without any pain.

KangarooKenny · 24/05/2022 07:45

Back to report on the Perspirex. Put it on last night, and this morning I’m getting ready for work and would normally have sweat patches before I leave the house. But nothing , not a drop.

I always use men's deodorant sticks too!
The first one I bought (Dove) was because it was cheaper, pound for pound, than the women's (fucking pink tax!) but I found I preferred it.

Now I use Lynx! Or men's Mitchum.
