Eco friendly razors?!

Hi,

I just want to get some advice and ideas of what others are using, especially now that we are supposed to be being more mindful of what we throw away. So I've generally always used disposable razors, don't find them great, but quick and easy option. Tried wax strips, they are okay but technique is probably not up to scratch. Have a cheap non branded epilator not great.
Have thought about going to the place I use who are good at waxing, to just have it done that way, but then that ends up being costly and having to find the time to book in etc.

So any suggestions welcome, thanks!

I use a really good quality razor where you only dispose the blade. It's a man's one... Gillette I think. The blade lasts months and months and months. I have just changed it and I suspect this time it might have lasted a whole year. The handle has been with me over a decade.

I switch to epilator for legs in the summer though.

I use a Venus Gilette razor - you keep the handle and only dispose of the blade, so that's something. I was sucked in a year or so ago by the ads for Estrid 'eco-friendly' razors, which have a metal handle. In fairness, they were great razors blades, but I was appalled to realise that each package is flown from somewher in Scandinavia (with some half-hearted 'carbon offsettng'). The blades are made of just as much plastic and packaged in just as much plastic as Gilette blades from your local pharmacy. So back to Gilette for me - I've had the same handle for a decade now I reckon!

TLDR - don't get fooled by fancy looking 'eco' brands, get a normal high-street chemist brand where you keep the handle and only change the blades. Still plastic, but not too much in the great scheme of things.

You could try a traditional safety razor where you just replace the blades.

I have a Friction Free Shaving subscription and you can send the blade cartridges back to them for recycling. The cartridges are less plastic than Venus/Estrid ones.

Same here. Paid out decent money for a Gillette razor and it's going strong at least fifteen years later. DH's surprisingly expensive eco-friendly bamboo razor from Christmas before last is now ready for the bin.

Thanks for the response received so far. Yes I was thinking along the lines of just getting the blades, apparently a single blade is better 🤷🏻‍♀️
Has anyone bought the Braun Epilator for body, there was one that came out in the last couple of years which looked good. For in shower too which would be better for me.
