Work wardrobe

We now have a hybrid work policy and and smart casual dress code.

Previously, we had a smart dress code, tailored trousers/skirts, smart tops and shoes. Often heels, etc.

Now we have a more relaxed dress code. Can wear smart trainers, denim, etc.

I just can't seem to put an outfit together. I've put on some weight too, so lots of my clothes don't fit (well they do, they just look awful), which isn't helping! While I’m working on losing a few pounds, can you help?! When I’m wfh I tend to live in active type wear ironically!

Thanks 😊

maybe try jeans\casual trousers\leggings or skirt with a smart top and/or blazer. Flat shoes or ankle boots.

Awaits responses patiently..

My workplace has stuck with smart casual for the days at work which is annoying frankly. Easy for the men (senior or old - suit with no tie, junior or cool - chinos and shirt) but for the women it’s infuriating.

Last year I rocked the long flowing dress with leather or denim jacket but that seems to have gone. So I’m stuck.

I have a hybrid role too. When I’m WFH I usually make sure I have a smart blouse or top on over jeans. In the office, I have have some Uniqlo trousers in black and navy with an elasticated waistband that I wear. I have some smart black pointed flats from Jones and I picked up a few t shirts from Cos which are thick and smart enough without being too smart

There are so many flattering dresses out there at the moment. The obvious choice for women at work is the shirt dress. Boden has this cracked of course but M&S have great alternatives. Their Broderie Anglais dresses are excellent value. Dress down with a Loewe rafia bag or dress up with gold jewellery.

Also why not chinos and a shirt? I have excellent chinos from M&S in a better quality cotton and they are great with a silk shirt or silk T shirt. Cos does great shirts and T shirts and you can add jewellery to smarten the look. There are also loads of wide trousers around which are great with shirts. I think the less formal way of dressing stops women trying to dress like men! Get away from suits and move into more comfortable clothes with style.

I tend to wear ankle grazers, flats and a top (chunky necklace).

Or fairly simple dresses - Toast, Cos, Boden, Seasalt all good.

Our dress code was always smart casual. I veer to smart casual because I'm Director level.
