Civil Service dress code

Hi, I’m starting work in the CS (HMRC) early next month at EO level (not public facing). The interview was held online and I have received no further info since the formal offer. Does anyone have an idea of the likely dress code please?

For the last few years I’ve been working from home, so I’m really out of the loop with what’s expected in offices these days. I was thinking of slim black trousers, pointed flats and a relaxed silky short-sleeved top. Is that terribly old-fashioned these days? And should I wear a jacket on my first day or will I look like a throwback to the early noughties?! TIA.

Sounds fine. I am a civil servant, not hmrc, I am public facing and we are only smart casual. No leggings. No trainers. Not loads of flesh on show

Yep that sounds right, and yes to the jacket as they might have powerful air conditioning!

Thank you both very much - good to know I was thinking along the right lines!
