Can you recommend a moisturiser with SPF?!

I'm looking for a daily moisturiser with SPF, something that is not gluey or greasy in the way that sunscreen tends to be. SPF15 would be fine.

I prefer natural skincare products if possible. Presumably the SPF itself would not be natural, but if the other ingredients are, that would be great.

Thank you for any recommendations!

I’ve started buying the spf drops and adding them to moisturiser or primer. It’s much easier. I think they’re from dermalogica.

I tried the body shop one but found it too heavy. I've gone back to Olay

I don't see the point of moisturiser with SPF, I think it just lulls you into a false sense of security. Proper sunscreen doesn't last all day and needs reapplying, so moisturiser applied at 8am or whenever isn't going to be protecting your skin in the afternoon.

Find a facial sunscreen that suits your skin and you can wear under make-up. Some are mattifying and aren't shiny, eg La Roche-Posay:

I use olay which is quite light but if out in the sun you would need to reapply, I don't wear make up so it isn't an issue for me.

The Green People products are very good, and mostly natural ingredients.

I use Cetaphil Daily Defence Moisturiser SPF50+ 50g over my normal moisturiser.

Estée Lauder have lovely ones

Lovetogarden2022 · 13/05/2022 14:20

I use one from Base Skncare - it's totally transformed my skin. I too don't like SPF which feels gloopy 😷 but their one just soaks into the skin almost immediately

I clicked to give the same warning.

I don't think most spfs in moisturiser provide enough protection, you also need quite a good amount so it depends how much moisturiser you use.

Altruist do a good factor 50 face fluid that's great value on Amazon.

What do you mean by "natural"?

Silversprinkles · 13/05/2022 14:51

I don't believe in moisturisers with spf. They won't protect you all day plus the quantity of spf is often not nearly enough to provide full protection.
I'd always go for a separate spf on top of moisturiser that can be reapplied as needed.
I use Tropic SunDay which isn't heavy at all, it's really light and my makeup goes on really well on top.

Rayna37 · 13/05/2022 14:57

I like the Body Shop Vitamin C one (SPF 30) and perhaps for winter/a richer one the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream SPF15 one.

I have switched to mostly using a regular moisturiser then a high SPF/primer from Beauty Pie but despite all the naysayers there's definitely a place for the "all in one" and at the end of the day the best skincare is stuff you will actually use!

JemimaTiggywinkle · 13/05/2022 15:01

I use Keihls spf 30 day cream. I really like it as a day cream, feel it’s made my skin softer and smoother.

I also have the la roche posay spf50 but I do find it blocks my pores if I wear it every day. I would wear it if I was planning a whole day in the sun, but can’t use it as my everyday moisturiser.

I also use this, it's very good

That's an excellent article @duvetdayforeveryone. I'd forgotten about the difference between UVA (the rays that age skin and can cause skin cancer) and UVB (rays that burn the skin). SPF only rates the level of protection against UVB. You need to look for the star system to see how much protection you get against UVA. Sunscreens have both on the packaging. Do any moisturisers protect against UVA rays?

And then of course you have to apply the correct amount, which is far more than you'd put on with a normal moisturiser.

I recommend reading the article!

Precipice · 13/05/2022 15:08

For actual time outside, I would recommend an actual facial sunscreen. I'm fine with Nivea Shine Control 50, which I find neither greasy nor glueing, though I can feel it more than the moisturiser below. Recent UV level in my area of the UK has been at around 4-5 during the day, and I wouldn't trust a moisturiser with spf for that.

However, I do use moisturiser with spf when I'm just at home and might get some UV exposure from light through the window or when the UV level is so low as to be negligible (winter months). I use the Cetaphil 50 mentioned above, it's about 13 pounds from Boots.

(For not protecting you all day - neither will any actual spf! Reapply.)

Thank you so much for the replies - really helpful!

I like the Clarins one in the pink, it's a nice light one, but after reading this, probably isn't doing enough. I only use it one days I'm not expecting to spend a lot of time outside. On those days I'll use a proper sunscreen (clarins).
