How do I improve my dry hair?

peri menopause has done nothing for my skin and hair. I’ve managed to significantly improve my skin but my hair is so dry and lank (even though thick).

Any suggestions? I’ve tried lots of different things and currently on the Aussie extra dry stuff which smells amazing but leaves almost a residue. It feels softer but is duller than ever.

is colouring a bad idea? It used to be deep, chocolately brown and glossy but now it’s a faded brown with lots of grey on my hairline.

Please help!

It sounds like your hair is similar to mine. I used to use Kheil's Creme with Silk Groom, a leave-in conditioner, which was the only product that , smoothed my hair without leaving a dulling residue, but something has gone wrong with their supply chain and it has been out of stock worldwide for months. So I've now discovered Olaplex which is absolutely amazing. Their products have a formula which bonds the hair shaft to tackle frizz etc. and they really work. Olaplex 6 and Olaplex 7 are my two favourite hair products ever (and I've tried a lot).

My hair sounds similar to yours. It takes a lot of upkeep to get it shiny but it's worth it.

I home dye my hair with semi permanent dye close to my natural colour and find it improves the texture.

I wash my hair every 3 days and use Tresemme Salon Silk shampoo and conditioner. Gently towel dry before conditioning, use a wide tooth comb and leave in as long as possible.

I use Cream of Nature Argan Oil leave in conditioner, concentrating on the dryer bits and the ends and leave it until its almost dry. Then use the dryer with a brush to smooth it as much as I can. I then straighten it on the damaged hair setting - very slowly and carefully and that's it for 3 days.

The type of brush you use can make a difference as well. Look for a good quality bristle brush, work from the bottom up to avoid breakage.

Also recommend a silk pillow case.
