Plantar Fasciitis - summer sandals

I’ve had this for years and Fit Flops toe post sandals always helped hugely in summer, however I’ve started wearing my two pairs again and I’m in so much pain in my feet, knees and back.

Ideally I should be wearing shoes that are securely ‘strapped’ to my feet so that I’m not clenching my toes etc to keep toe post shoes on.

Has anyone with PF found some summer sandals (prefer smarter styles) that are secure on your feet but don’t cost the earth? I don’t want to pay more than £40-50, yet most sandals aimed at PF are £80+.

I have trainers so am specifically looking for sandals.

What treatment have you had for your PF, you shouldn’t be living with it ?
I had the laser treatment and it took it away.

@KangarooKenny just exercises given by an NHS physio over the a video call. I had NHS custom made orthotics made a few years ago but I didn’t have a diagnosis of PF then and don’t wear them anymore as they are so impractical. Also wear a night splint when I have a flare up, try and wear Fit Flops shoes (brand not flip flops), ice water bottle under the arch, and don’t go bare foot.

tbh I’ve given up now. With Covid backlog the GP is not interested so I’m trying to manage myself and beyond decent shoes helps.

It’s a shame, you shouldn’t have to put up with it. As I said, the laser was the only thing that got rid of mine.

Crocs here work and you can always get a bigger size and put the indoor in

I feel for you, I’ve had PF several times and my current bout has been affecting both feet since October. I’ve had physio, ultrasound treatment, biomechanics referral, orthotics and still no better. I bought this device online that vibrates on you foot which helps a bit. Waiting for referral for injections to come through at the minute which I’m not looking forward to but at this point I’ll try anything.

These are the only sandals I can wear without pain, they’re not the most attractive but I live in them in the summer.

I bought a plantar fasciitis "kit" from amazon which included these wide elastic straps with a kind of padded round thing that sat under the arch of my feet. They helped massively at the beginning, wore them with trainers.

Because I got PF at the start of lockdown 1, I was also able to focus religiously on the physio exercises too, doing them 2x daily for 2 months. It's the first time I've ever actually stuck to something like this and they really did work and I'm able to go running etc.

Now if I feel my ankles weakening or an ache begins in my feet I know to get back on the physio exercises.

Re sandals I find the doc martens ones good but they are a stupid price. They feel pretty tough though. Alternatively you may be able to try the arch things I mentioned with a more basic sandal?
